Maybe a lot of those people in cars are making sure their batteries don't go flat!

First family down on our street - apparently young kid and parents are all suffering. There about 60 houses on the street.  There's a low possibility Mrs G and I have been exposed.

I think I have pestered her enough recently over the Chinese corona virus - others can take up the baton and write to their MPs about lack of port screening and border controls from infected areas.

I've been starting mine up and revving the ending for a minute or two every few days.

As I understand it, you should get the engine up to temperature - which implies driving a few miles. Luckily for me, Tesco is several miles away - and the school (which I had to go to earlier) is a 26-mile round trip. No flat batteries here!

Anecdotal I know but we live on the A435 - has been extremely quiet since the lockdown, but yesterday my wife remarked that there were many more cars on the road than there had been for a few days.

Another "clap" tomorrow evening? Just mentioned on news.

Hubby is a Highways England inspector and as a result he is out most days doing safety inspections. He commented yesterday that there are more cars on the road than at the beginning of the week.

Utterly terrible. I was expecting the new deaths to be lower today because of a) the huge increases in the last 2 days, b) the flakiness of the UK's reporting. The new cases is also worrying because (I *think*) it suggests there has been an uptick again in the last 48 hours.

The government of Hubei in central China has announced that 14 medical workers who lost their lives in the fight against Covid-19 will be included on a list of "martyrs".

Among them is Li Wenliang. He became internationally recognised for trying to alert colleagues in central Wuhan about the virus in late December, when the outbreak was just beginning.

He was handed a warning by police for "spreading rumours", and later died after contracting the virus. His treatment by the Chinese authorities sparked widespread public anger.

Many users of Chinese social media site Sina Weibo have written about the list, but there are signs that comments are being censored. Only a handful of comments can be viewed out of the hundreds that have been posted. Many of them feature candle emojis to commemorate the medics.

Big number obviously but a lot less than I thought we’d have. 

Don't forget these deaths are from cases admitted probably 10 - 14 days ago when new case numbers were lower

yes but the increase for the previous 2 days was 31% and 27% so was expecting something in the region of 30+% (not the 24% it was)

Personally I expect deaths to keep rising for another week
