It's supposed to be spring just now, but there is nothing very springlike about our weather just now as it is snowing quite heavily here in Edinburgh as I write. That started off as heavy rain but there was then quite a large drop in the temperature as that moved in which along with some evaporative cooling then caused that rain to turn to snow which is now giving us a slight covering (where on Earth was this sort of weather during the winter when we were looking for it?
).
The good news though, is that it's nowhere near as windy as what it has been.
However, all of this precipitation has resulted in a total of 5.2 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning along with 6.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This means that today will now go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations.
As I write, the temperature is still dropping and so, the temperature at 8am this morning was 0.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
