There has continued to be some further rain at times during tonight and it is still very windy with the mean wind speeds at midnight still up to 29.8mph from the west at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and with maximum wind gusts now up to 55.3mph.

In the end, a total of 11.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 7.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes yesterday the second wettest day of this year so far at both of those stations as this rather wet and miserable start to this spring which we are currently experiencing goes on.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 6.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

After all of the miserable weather of yesterday and last night, this morning has actually started off on a fairly bright and sunny note which means that a total of 48 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

It is still fairly breezy, but it is nowhere near as windy now as what it has been over the last day or so.

Bedroom windows are broadside to the wind direction so constant 'wake ups' as the fiercer gusts blasted through.

Showers now easing but thoroughly grim out there still!

Less cold than yesterday at 7C with sunny spells, and wind is easing slowly.

Peak gust was only 50mph but a high mean speed all night.

Sunny spells and partial cloud and the 12.2 c & 60% h in a brisk west wind are all doing an excellent job in drying everything up quickly after yesterday's bit of squally stuff.

Well, I don't think that I've ever seen this forum as quiet as what it's been this afternoon.

Anyway, there was some decent spells of sunshine during this afternoon which means that a total of 6.4 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

However, it has now clouded over from the west once again, and it is still very windy with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 35.4mph from the west at 4pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 10.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes today the warmest day of this spring so far at all three of my local stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 8.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Not much to report here, really as the last few hours have just been one massive boring overcast and cloudy nothingness, with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

In the end, a total of 6.4 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

At the moment, it's still fairly windy here, but the winds at Edinburgh Gogarbank at 8pm this evening were now only gusting up to 29.8mph from the WSW, so it's nowhere near as windy as what it has been in recent days.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 6.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh
