Dry and clear, which is a massive change from the last few nights (if only we could get these much clearer conditions during the day just now, our sunshine totals would be a lot better than what we are getting just now as a result) and the wind has died down as well.

In the end, a total of 4.8 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 5.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That makes yesterday nowhere near as wet as the day before that, though still much wetter than nearly every day during the winter.

The temperature are gradually dropping under those much clearer skies and so, the temperature at midnight was 2.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 1.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Today has started off on a cold and frosty note with an official air frost being recorded at all three of my local stations.

That has then, taken us into something which we haven't seen for a while, which is a bright and sunny start to this morning and as a result of that, 12 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

However, it is now already starting to cloud over ahead of the next Atlantic weather system.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was -2.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -3°C at Edinburgh Airport and -2.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes last night the coldest night of both this month and this spring so far at all three of my local stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 2.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and -0.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Our sunny start to today didn't last for long, and it didn't take long for everything to descend into another dull and overcast nothingness with constant grey skies.

There has now also just been a little bit of rain although that hasn't really come to anything and there are still some bright and sunny intervals around.

The end result of this is that a total of just 36 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far as at 12 noon, but with nothing at all in that department since 9am this morning.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 5.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There has been some rain during this evening, but not too much of it as a total of just 1.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 1.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. Nevertheless, this means that today will go down as yet another official rain day at both of those stations.

It is also rather windy with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank gusting up to 33.6mph from the west as at 8pm this evening.

There was also just a little bit of brightness at times during the day and in the end, a total of exactly an hour of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's maximum temperature was 7.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 6.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

EDIT:

Just as I posted this, it then started to absolutely chuck it down with rain which is now coming down quite heavily as I write.

Weather seems in a right flap at the moment with bits and pieces of blustery rain blowing through - not amounting to much but enough to be a pain .

Slight frost this morning with low of -0.6 but blustery showers back by early afternoon, windy with it, high of 6.8C
