Today has started off on a cold and frosty note with an official air frost being recorded at all three of my local stations.

That has then, taken us into something which we haven't seen for a while, which is a bright and sunny start to this morning and as a result of that, 12 minutes of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.
However, it is now already starting to cloud over ahead of the next Atlantic weather system.
Last night's overnight minimum temperature was -2.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, -3°C at Edinburgh Airport and -2.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes last night the coldest night of both this month and this spring so far at all three of my local stations.
Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 2.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and -0.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
