Strom Freya will be generating violent weather; MetO wind warnings are out for Wales and the NW, but everywhere will get plenty of rain. Current forecast track is from the SW approaches to Tyneside, with the strongest winds on the south side.

A classic bomb for the UK - cold air getting down into a warm Biscay and picked up by the jetstream, echoes of Oct 1987, though nothing could be as dramatic as that.

And the synoptic setup doesn't change, with another less violent storm on Thursday but the GEFS rainfall spikes are huge.

Well the MetO infra red shows the area that is to spin up now to our SW.

More warm moist being dragged in again?

Do keep up to date with warnings folks esp, if you have to be out and about!

Weather warning still in place, though Freya seems to be arriving a little later than predicted a few days ago i.e. this afternoon/evening rather than all day. Wind speeds also lower on this morning's forecast with 50mph gusts rather thant 60 - not that 50 is negligible.

The warning doesn’t come into effect until 3pm this afternoon? As far as I’m aware the strongest winds were always for later on Sunday into Monday morning.

This is from the warning “Storm Freya will bring very strong winds, with some travel disruption and possible dangerous conditions late Sunday and into Monday”

We've already had 53mph gust this earlier morning, a lot of energy involved but being near the centre the worst wind is further south.

The met office new scoll-a-lot layout shows a wind warning over us during a period when the winds fall lighter than they were last nght.

A few hours rain will be welcome really after days of drying wind.

It has been rather windy in many northern parts overnight but that is due to the Low to the north rather than “Freya”

Yes Doc, a noisy, stormy 12 hours here in Edinburgh starting with a very squally cold front late yesterday afternoon. Gusts between 50-60 mph all night

Storm Freya will largely miss us bringing rain and hill snow overnight on a NE then NW wind

Looking at the latest information on Storm Freya it would appear that it will be less damaging than initially looked. A secondary low forming quickly on its heels could reduce the strength of the gusts. Don’t get me wrong we will still have gusts to 60-65mph but probably not 70-80mph as first thought🤔.... however knowing our weather watch it change again in the next 12hrs.

The Bournemouth Echo seem to have been caught up in the excitement of the moment by saying Weather warning issued as Storm Freya makes landfall.

That's a new one for me the making landfall bit.

The wind is increasing, but still only Fresh at the moment.

What surprises me is how quickly the pressure is falling. It`s fallen from 995mb to 985mb since 12.10pm according to my barograph.

Well the winds gusted to 64mph here today so just a fresh breeze... not really a Storm as I’d call it. However this down to that secondary low forming quicker than expected and reducing the potency of Freya.
