Here in the most boring part of the UK when it comes our weather, our winter borefest goes on as I have now just woken up to another overcast and grey nothingness, with nothing which is even remotely interesting in terms of our weather actually happening.

With there being too much cloud around, the temperatures continued to go up during the night to the point where for a few hours just a short while ago, we were having to endure that ultimate winter nightmare of night-time double figures temperatures.

The temperatures have dropped back a bit during the last hour or so, but it remains very mild which means that our frost-free hell goes on.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. This makes last night the mildest night of this month so far at all three of my local stations.

Today's maximum temperature so far is 10.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Really felt that we we were making progress out of this horrible dark season with the much brighter mornings of the last couple of weeks. Now it's back to square one with this soul destroying gloom.

Fair, bright and dry with hazy sun through high cloud. While it is "only" 8.8 c & 86% h, winds being a gentle SW breeze mean it is feeling fairly mild for it.

Horrible, pointless weather continues. No sun at all in the morning or at lunchtime for the second day running. Wind making it feel unpleasant too so needed my hat on at lunchtime despite it supposedly reaching 10.9C

Then for the second day running the sun did appear in the afternoon just when it's at the right angle to shine through the office window and right in to my eyes 

It's currently 9.1C and windy. Irritating, useless and boring rubbish. 

Here in Edinburgh, the borefest goes on.

There was some breaks in the cloud during the day and in the end, a total of 1.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's maximum temperature was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where today was the mildest day of this year so far as a result, and the joint mildest day of this so-called "winter" (which has now returned to being just as much of a non-event as it was in December) so far.

Just now, it is cloudy once again and fairly windy which means that the temperatures once again, are unlikely to be dropping by all that much during tonight.

In the meantime though, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
