Cloudy with not much happening here in the most boring part of the UK when it comes to our weather.

In the end, a total of just 0.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with a measly 0.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 5.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Today has started off on a very dark, depressing and soul destroying note with plenty of grey sky and nothing yet again which is even remotely interesting as far as our weather is concerned actually happening. To me, this is the most boring spell of weather which I could possibly encounter, which serves absolutely no purpose whatsoever whereas even we got some rain here, that would be helping to reduce that massive rainfall deficit which has built up through this year which means that it would at least be serving some sort of purpose.

But no, we can't even get that now whereas everyone else on this this forum appears to have no problems with getting that in their area and I'm now getting really really tired, fed up and P*@SED off with that!!  (by that, it's not that I want to stop others from reporting what it's like in their own area, but I would just like to at least occasionally have something interesting to report as well which they are getting).

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 1.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 1°C at Edinburgh Airport and 2.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so yet another frost-free hell to report here.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 4.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 3°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Yet another worthless and depressingly grey morning that makes you want to hibernate.

Temp currently at the min of 4.7C making it the 10th or 11th frost free night in a row. Loosing track now as day after day of horrendous tedium blend into one stinking nightmare.

Only needed my cardie and jogging bottoms when I popped out to get the papers as the 10.9 c felt spring-like mild in the low noon sunshine and light wind. There are some cloud about now but still bright.

Rather soggy after 8.4 mm of showery rain fell overnight (since the 12 am station reset) and is expected to be even more soggy later on tonight going by the model outputs.

Since I have been at a Christmas meal with a number of colleagues from my voluntary job, I haven't had time to give my usual updates earlier on today on this thread but I did catch up with all of the data once I returned home.

During what little time that I have had to be able to see what the weather has been like, it has been virtually completely overcast and that was shown in the data as well, as nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That makes today, our 8th completely sunless day of both this month and this winter. Today was also our second sunless day of this week and our second sunless day in the space of just the last three days.

There was also some rain during today, especially leading up to and just after lunchtime. However, today was that some old story yet again where we do get the rain, but just cannot get any great amounts of it here with the result that yet again, everybody else in the UK probably gets substantially more rain that we have had here.

On that note, a total of 1.2 mm of rain has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8pm this evening, along with 1.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That isn't much yet again although on this occasion, this was at least enough to mean that today will go down as an official rain day at both of those stations.

Today's maximum temperature was 7.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

There was some clear sky around when I made my way home earlier on this evening with the Waxing Gibbous Moon clearly visible. However, there is a lot of cloud around at the moment which means that yet again, the temperatures are refusing to drop as a result.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 6.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 6°C at Edinburgh Airport and 6.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
