It's overcast with the wind having now picked up with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank of up to 36.7mph from the SSW as at midnight.

At the same time though, the temperature has been going up all night and the ultimate winter nightmare of double figure night-time temperatures has struck as winter has now very quickly completely fallen apart and gone completely down the toilet pan.

As a result of that, the temperature at midnight was now up to 11.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, and I've seen cooler nights than this even in the middle of summer!!.

The worst winter weather on earth continues with a totally vile dark windy and damp morning.

Temp 8.6C following a disgusting min of 7.1C. Wind coming from the horror SE quadrant yet again.

A very mild but very dark, depressing and dreary morning with very little happening as usual, which is even remotely interesting as far as our weather is concerned.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 10.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Once again, this is just the same old story which we see every single year in the run-up to every single Christmas with yet more mild and Atlantic driven filth.

7.5C with patchy rain driven by strong wind.

Only been 3mm so far but will carry on similar until mid-evening by the look of it.

Looks like quite a potent squall line on the radar across Wales and the SW.

It's raining here in Edinburgh just now with nothing in the way of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 1pm this afternoon.

This isn't the sort of heavy rain would get me soaked, but it has resulted in total of 1.6 mm of rain being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 1pm this afternoon along with 1.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This means that today will go down as an official rain day at both of those stations although I am no doubt that everyone else on this forum will be reporting higher totals than that for their own area as usual.

When I was out and about a short while ago, I wasn't aware of it being all that windy and yet, the wind as at 1pm this afternoon has been gusting up to 40.4mph from the SSW at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 1pm this afternoon was 10.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Cloudy (although there was the odd chinks of brightness) along with the return of the dreaded strong southerly wind (again). It is currently dry as the rain off to my west is yet to arrive here. 9.4 c but is feeling colder in the wind.

A bit of a come down on yesterday's fine weather.

Currently tipping it down 9mm/min rates

Its that thin squall line type feature in the middle of the rain band.  Much heavier than the echoes suggest.

More rain :(

The rain from earlier on today is now clearing away but in the end, nothing in the way of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank which makes today, our 7th completely sunless day of both this month and this winter.

At the same time, a total of 3.2 mm of rain has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon along with 2.4 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature was 11.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 8.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

At least 12mm considering wind will have affected what was caught in the gauge

That has eased now but still wet. None too warm either at 6.6C

There's not much wind just now, but there is a lot of cloud which means that the temperatures yet again, are refusing to drop as a result of there being too much cloud around.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening was 8.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8°C at Edinburgh Airport and 7.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The back end of the rain is just reaching us here at this end of Kent, not too much in the way of drama as the squall line fizzled out before it got here (as expected) with 5.8 mm of rain. The southerly wind did make itself felt (again) but wasn't anything out of the ordinary and now has fallen light.
