Very windy yet again with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 33.6mph from the west as at midnight.

The result of this is that yet again, the temperatures are still refusing to drop due to there being too much cloud (it is still rather cloudy as well) and far too much wind.

Consequently, the temperature at midnight was 12.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Drizzle, light to moderate WNW winds, 11.5 C @ 95% RH and pressure @ 1031mb. It can be quite wet here with high pressure parked just out west with a moist feed in through the Cheshire Gap from the WNW. 1.5mm over the last few hours - not a lot but soaking the surface!

Mainly clear 11.4C, suddenly the wind has dropped away at least for while.

The last few days of constant drying wind mean it's as dry as can be for late October.

After two relentless windy days with gusts up to 50 mph, we have only moderate winds this morning. A minimum of 5 C and good clear spells

17.1°C off a 17.5° max. Sunny- and not end October light, either: more like early Sep- bright yellow, hot sun. Sat and slept shirtless in the garden and woke up sweating. Stunning day.

The whole Winchester-Romsey-Eastleigh triangle is in 18C territory, but the Pompey-Chichester-Bognor belt is at 19C. Anywhere warmer?

Bright with good sunny spells and broken cloud. 17.9 c & 76% h from a peak of 19.2 c at 1.30 pm with very little wind to speak of.

A shame that we may struggle to reach 9 c by mid-day over the weekend if the model outputs are to be believed.

Wonderful sunset here tonight. One of the best I've ever seen but even that wasn't enough to compensate for the deplorable, stupidly mild cloudy and windy gunk of the past two days.

Another all time low reached with the temperature staying above 12C for a ridiculous 43 consecutive hours when it is now so late in the season that the long term average high is below 12C.

By day it felt far from warm under the cloud and wind and the temperature was barely any higher with a max of 14.3C. Having dipped to 11.9C just after sunset the temperature is now back above 12C and the vile wind which never lets up is rattling away as usual

Totally worthless and soul destroying conditions like nothing we ever got prior to the past 20 years. This type of synoptic set-up would have delivered much more broken cloud in the past, higher day temperatures and lower night temperatures.

Another very boring day (hence my lack of recent posts) with very little actually happening other than the usual grey and overcast nothingness and in the end, the rather diabolical total of just 12 minutes of sunshine was recorded for the whole of today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

It doesn't appear to be quite as windy as it has been recently, but it is still very windy nevertheless with today's maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank still getting up to 41.6mph from the WSW.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 10.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Today's maximum temperature was 12.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Tonight is slightly cooler than other recent nights, but it is still fairly mild and so the temperature at 8pm this evening was 10.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.0°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
