Rather cloudy and windy with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 31.1mph from the SW as at midnight, and with the temperatures refusing to drop yet again as a result.

In the end, a total of 3.8 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 2.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That isn't much, but it was enough to make yesterday, the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 13.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 14°C at Edinburgh Airport and 14.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Much lighter winds here atm - moderate southerlies, light rain and a muggy 16.8 C @ 95% RH and pressure has risen to 1004mb. Amazing (or worrying) that one or two spots are still reading 21 C at this hour in mid meteorological autumn. No need for the wood burner tonight

A horrendous day here in Edinburgh with heavy rain throughout this morning and now, some thick fog. With all of that going on, there is nothing in the way of sunshine which has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and not even any signs of that either so far as at 12 noon.

On the other hand, today's rainfall total has now increased to 8.6 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 8.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh as at 12 noon. This means that today will now go down as not only another official rain day at both of those stations, but also the wettest day of this month so far by some considerable margin at both of those stations.

This morning's minimum temperature was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 10°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so no record high minimum temperatures here as there has been down south, although last night was still a fairly mild one anyway.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 12.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The rain has now eased off here, but it remains overcast with nothing in the way of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Today's rainfall total so far as at 4pm this afternoon has nevertheless increased to 11.0 mm at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 11.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh where today will now go down as the wettest day of this autumn so far as a result.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 4pm this afternoon was 13.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 13.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

19.1C here, much cooler by morning though.

High was 20.3C so nothing special considering October record is about 25C

Wind has been shrieking all day but gusts not as high as yesterday.
