After a dull start to the day, it has now brightened up nicely here in Edinburgh with half an hour of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

There was also some rain during this morning but as per usual, the amounts from that have been quite small and so, a total of 1.8 mm of rain has fallen during today so far Edinburgh Gogarbank (where today will therefore go down as an official rain day as a result) as at 12 noon, along with just 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

However, the wind has picked up once again and at 12 noon, the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank was gusting up to 36.7mph from the SW.
