Here in Edinburgh, it clouded over after midnight with the result that the temperatures have refused to drop after that, thereby resulting in last night being not as cold as the previous night.

It is usually asking too much in these parts for us to have a run of bright and sunny mornings which lasts for any length of time, and that has been shown yet again as this morning has began on a rather dark and depressing note with yet more constant grey skies, and yet another boring grey and overcast nothingness.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 8.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 7°C at Edinburgh Airport and 8.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 9.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Fine with near unbroken sunshine and a little high cloud. 15.2 c & 61% h under calm conditions.

Temps didn't get any lower than 11.9 c at 1.15 am last night on account of an easterly breeze and low cloud coming in from what is still a relatively warm Strait of Dover.

Here in the most boring part of the UK when it comes to our weather, our September borefest goes on.

The cloud is a bit more broken than what is was earlier on though with a few breaks which have allowed a total of 1.2 hours of sunshine to be recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

I can confirm with that, that the lack of sunshine during both today and yesterday afternoon has now officially killed off our chances of this month being sunnier than average overall at Edinburgh Gogarbank whereas there was still an outside chance of that happening beforehand. This means that this month will now go down as being duller than average at Edinburgh Gogarbank, regardless of what happens during the rest of today and tomorrow.

The wind has picked up a bit as well, and is now gusting up to 35.4mph from the WSW at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

However, the only thing which will stop me from seeing this as a complete borefest in my books, is if we start to see some proper rainfall, yet that just isn't happening and now with just today and tomorrow to go, this looks set to be yet another drier than average month as a result at all of my local stations in terms of the actual rainfall amounts in a run which now stretches all the way back to before May.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 10.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so even the temperatures aren't exactly exciting in these parts.

Still nothing really all that interesting happening here as usual.

There has been the odd bright interval and there a few patches of blue sky around. However, it is still mostly cloudy with a total of just 1.6 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature so far was 11.8°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.5°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The borefest goes on here.

It remains mostly cloudy here and in the end, a total of just 1.6 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank with nothing at all in that department since 2pm this afternoon.

It remains very windy as well, with the wind at Edinburgh Gogarbank still gusting up to 33.6mph from the SW.

That combination of all of the wind and cloud cover means that the temperatures are refusing to drop once again, so the temperature at 8pm this evening was 10.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 10.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
