Believe it or not, I've actually slept in this morning and only just woke up (that is these darker autumn mornings starting to have an effect already but luckily, it is the weekend which means that it doesn't actually matter in this case).

This clearly doesn't make any difference to what I am reporting either because this morning has once again, started off on the usual cloudy note and although the Sun is trying hard to be seen through a veil of medium level cloud, there is still nothing in the way of sunshine which has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 9am this morning.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 7.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 5°C at Edinburgh Airport and 5.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9am this morning was 9.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 9°C at Edinburgh Airport and 9.8°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Fine and sunny. 19 C according to my Davis station, think it's being heated up slightly by the sun as there is still that crispness in the air.

Overall, a much better day than yesterday.

There is still some cloud around, but that cloud is more broken with some reasonably good sunny spells coming through at times.

This has now resulted in a total of 1.7 hours of sunshine being recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon with a temperature of around 13°C across my three local stations.

This afternoon has carried on with the theme of mostly grey skies and just the odd sunny interval now and again. This means that a total of 2.4 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 4pm this afternoon.

Today until now has been slightly cooler than yesterday, but it is still warming up as I write and at 4pm this afternoon, the temperature was 15.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

A wonderful day today with ample sunshine and a max of 19.9c just after 1pm.

Some cumulus threatened between 1-2pm  blotting out the sun briefly but the sea breeze fought back and the clouds retreated inland.

This evening here in Edinburgh, ended up descending into a boring grey nothingness in the end. The end result of this is that a final total of 2.7 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

Today's maximum temperature was roughly about the same as it was yesterday at 15.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8pm this evening is around the 14°C mark across my three local stations.
