Really potent line of rain this morning, topping up the August totals. It’s delaying me setting out for my 11am meeting.

Hopefully this is the weather getting things out of its system before a dry Autumn.

A truly dismal morning with moderate rain under laden overcast murky skies, no thunder heard though. Have lights on indoors to lift the gloom.

7.2 mm (and rising) so far. 15.9 C & 93% H but very little wind to speak of so it is feeling rather soupy indoors.

Yuk, but it'll be good for my lawn anyway.

I was expecting some moderate showery rain along the south-east coast of Kent, before I got out and about, but it has been chucking it down for an hour now, and it looks from the radar as though it will continue for a while yet.  So much for hopes of getting out in the garden.

Just reached the 15 mm mark with the rain. I popped into town to collect an item from Argos and while my umbrella kept most of me dry, the rainwater was heavy enough to soak through my trainers and ended up with soggy socks.

14.9 C & 94% H with a more notable NW breeze.

Bright and breezy here with some sunny intervals which has resulted in a total of 3.8 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon. This in turn means that this summer will after all, go down as being sunnier than average overall at Edinburgh Gogarbank although it was a real struggle to get over that finishing line and this month is still going to go down as being substantially duller than average.

It's also not all that warm out there just now and so, the temperature at 12 noon was 14.9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 15°C at Edinburgh Airport and 16.6°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning`s drizzle only lasted for 15-20 minutes and hasn`t even registered on my rain gauge.

Still cloudy but a couple of patches of blue sky starting to appear.

Best day I've personally experienced for 2 weeks (Lakes, Yorks and Notts) now back in Edinburgh and it's mostly blue sky. So good to see after my hideous August!

After what has been a truly dismal grey wet day, the sun has broken though and is suddenly all bright and cheerful now.

16.5 C & 88% and the NW breeze has dropped.

There is still a bit of cloud around but if anything, there is probably even less of that around than what there was earlier on. That has allowed even more in the way of sunshine to come through as the afternoon has gone on and so, a total of 7.8 hours of sunshine has now been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 5pm this afternoon.

Today's maximum temperature was 17.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so today was slightly warmer than yesterday thanks to the increased amounts of sunshine.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 5pm this afternoon was 16.3°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This makes today, the second sunniest day of this month so far by quite a fair distance, and the sunniest day since 9 August which is almost three weeks ago.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 9pm was 12.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
