It's still overcast here in Edinburgh but for once, it is actually dry for a change.

That is particularly important on this occasion because in the end, a total of 15.6 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank, along with 18.2 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh. That in turn, makes yesterday the wettest day of this month so far at both of those stations.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 12.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13°C at Edinburgh Airport and 12.3°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

This morning started off on yet another dull and overcast note with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning. However, there are a few gaps in that cloud cover now with the Sun making the odd brief appearance at times. Because of that, I don't think that today will end up being a completely sunless day such as what we had yesterday.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 12.1°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Rather cloudy but thin enough to make it seem bright (ideal for outdoors wedding photography without harsh shadows but still making for fast shutter speeds).

A comfortably warm 21.3 C & 82% H with no wind.

Muggy, muggy muggy. Back from holidays and the yellow grass and dusty soil of July is a distant memory. Damp and green everywhere.

Overall, a much better day today than yesterday's wet and completely sunless write-off of a day.

There isn't actually all that much cloud around, and there is some good sunny spells coming through which even makes it feel pleasantly warm in that sunshine.

As at 12 noon though, a total of just 1.2 hours of sunshine has been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank. That still isn't very much for this time of year, but it is more than the combined total of all of the previous three days put together which just goes to show bad it's been recently.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature eventually bottomed out at 11.0°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11°C at Edinburgh Airport and 11.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 16.5°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 17°C at Edinburgh Airport and 16.1°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Hi John! From what is now a sunny Folkestone. Indeed the sun is fully out and thus making the current 22.6 C & 82% H feel positively balmy for it, especially with very little wind about. Just done a cheeky bit of titivating in the back yard.
