Overcast with occasional patchy rain, never all that far away.

In the end, a total of 2.2 mm of rain fell during yesterday at Edinburgh Gogarbank along with 3.8 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so in contrast to the very dry start which we had to last month, this month has started off on a rather wet note.

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 15.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16°C at Edinburgh Airport and 16.2°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, so this has turned into another rather warm night.

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

A very depressing and soul destroying start to the day here in Edinburgh with yet more constantly grey skies as the August permacast goes on with nothing in the way of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning.

In addition to that, there has also been some light rain with 0.2 mm of rain having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am this morning, along with 0.6 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Last night was a very warm one and the overnight minimum temperature was 15.2°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 16°C at Edinburgh Airport and 15.4°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 17.7°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 18°C at Edinburgh Airport and 17.7°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

The clouds have broken up a little bit during the course of this morning. However, that has only allowed the odd very brief sunny interval through so that at 12 noon, just 12 minutes of sunshine was recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, it is warm and so, the temperature at 12 noon was 20.6°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 20°C at Edinburgh Airport and 21.9°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.
