Dry and most clear apart from some stunning looking noctilucent clouds to my north which is quite amazing because according to Wikipedia they are normally only visible during astronomical twilight whereas, the nights in this part of the world are actually too short for that to occur (the Sun on the shortest night dipped to just 10.6º below the horizon at most, which still kept us in Nautical Twilight at that time).

Meanwhile, the temperature at midnight was 11.3ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 11ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 12.4ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Down to 6.3C at 5am but 14C already - warming up faster than yesterday.

Wind is very light steady drift of 1 or 2mph from the west.

The VP2 is turning so smooth and gently it looks like a motor is driving it.

Fitted new bearings a couple of weeks ago or it would have been stopped when it's like this.

For once, I'm not going to be able to use the term "permacast hell" to describe this morning's weather (I am aware that some people on this forum were getting fed up with me mentioning that, and I was getting fed up with doing so as well) and we now have a gloriously sunny morning just now with 2.5 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 8am.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 9.4ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 8ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 10.3ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so it was a slightly milder night than of late.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 8am this morning was 12.4ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 13ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 13.6ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

All we can do now, is wait and see whether or not the much warmer weather which is being expected, starts today as many forecasts have suggested.

The perfect summer's day here so far with deep blue skies (as opposed to the usual grey skies) and with 6.5 hours of sunshine having been recorded for today so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank as at 12 noon.

Meanwhile, the temperature at 12 noon was 18.7ºC at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 19ºC at Edinburgh Airport and 19.5ºC at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh so it is already warmer than what it has been for a while and we are forecast to go above 20ºC today.

It looks like the last of the cloud just burning away in the coming hour (a little slower than forecast) but winds are mostly light and it feels pleasant in any sunshine.

Currently just nudged up to 16°C in the garden - hopefully more sunshine and higher temperatures to come through the afternoon.

Absolutely disgusting with near full cloud cover and the temperature only 14.1C and dropping. Vile

God only knows where all the North Sea cloud here is coming from when it looks clear right down at the coast. Temperature dropped to just 13.9C

Hopefully it will get “squeezed out” soon as, as you say, there seems to be a bit just away from the coast and clearer on either side.

This horrid cloud just isn't shifting at all. Be as well chucking it down because there's no way you can set out comfortably in this

It's awful. Just 14.7C with near full cloud cover. It's a cool and cloudy day when it was meant to be warm and sunny. Last Sunday was miles better than this and has been the only vaguely acceptable Sunday so far in this dreadful summer. In fact yesterday, despite not being up to much, was also better.

I feel your pain Richard as I have just been out for a wander and you are very unlucky re. the cloud. I'm writing this from the sunshine in my garden but I can see the cloud, not far away.
