Which serves as a warning to all in these situations to nowcast yourself given the tools available rather than rely on others. As an aside, the previously maligned Estofex had a Lvl1 forecast this morning that looks spot on at the moment.

The storm has just arrived here. Torrential rain and thunder briefly although it has eased off for the moment. A classic early plume. The sky looked very threatening earlier as the first shower moved in and after a calm day the wind started picking up ahead of the shower. No need for a forecast in this situation. I knew exactly what was coming.

Can see lightning from the east of the peaks here in Marple now. Looks like Bradford from Real Time Lightning.

Amazing summer-like storm conditions! Roads like rivers, frequent lightning, overhead claps. Marvellous! Rain gauge has peaked at 35mm/hr.

I wonder if something might trundle up here in the early hours. Forecasts show some heavy showers just off the coast in about 4 hours time.

I can hear thunder in the distance but looks like it will miss us....

Just the aftermath; light rain, a few desultory flashes in the distance.

A little snippet of tonight's big one as it moved in a few miles to my west - i was just on the edge of it.

How many flashes in the first 3 minutes can you count?

Has arrived here now but nothing like what people have experienced further south. Some moderate rain, the occasional distant flash, one rumble heard.

A nice light show is passing to the east of Frome right now, loads of thunder and lightning and looking at some other flashes there might be some heading a bit closer at this location, I can hear rumbles from indoors so must be getting closer now.

A string of storms are passing to the east of here right now with constant lightning, missed us this time. Very satisfied with the storms tonight though and to be honest I thought nothing was going to happen this far south. I wasn't in the wife's best books today as she hates thunder and lightning, unfortunately earlier I told her nothing was going to happen so I ended in the dog house for a while.

That's what I do all the time! I'm not an expert so I see what the Met Office says, what other forecasters' opinions are. Then when it comes to the time, I nowcast by looking at the radar, the sferic charts, read reports from people near my area.......etc.
