I totally agree Beast so far I still see zonal type conditions for the south of the uk for the foreseeable future with the odd exception

I disagree. There is some potential but very limited as we once again see a potential northerly downgraded to the point of nothing as Neil explained with too much energy in the northern jet to prevent HLB. I'm sure if this was 30 years ago we would have had a proper cold blast.

I think we have to face reality that those of us in lowland in southern England may never see lying snow (that sticks) again for many years to come

Well said Neil. An analysis I fully agree with.

And once again Beast cut out the melodramatic nonsense. If you have to post "analysis" like your last sentence do not do it in this thread as it is unfounded, offputting and totally off-topic. I cannot make that message any clearer without having to act on it.

Dutch ECM and GFS overnight ens

ECM looks a little cooler overall although GEFS dips later on

FI and all that but I do like the NH view of the ECM 240

The PV lobe over Canada is dissipating, there's some WAA over Greenland and a buckled jet. With LP over the azores too things are loaded with potential. May not come to anything of course but better than a flat zonal pattern

I'm surprised at Beast as he has contributed with credible knowledge in the past. What happened? These comments "if it were the 80's we would have had snow by now" have become so daft it's as if they're purely out of frustration.

Conjecture and model-blindness aside, there's some pretty decent ENS perts on the 06 run, some of which start to build heights across Scandy mid-term.

Control is reasonable in terms of keeping us on the cold side of the jet

A few good ens members like this as well, but not enough to get me interested

Bitterly cold weather returning - or continuing for SE Europe including Turkey and heading towards Algeria, Tunisia and Libya:

A long way off but the typical thing that frustrates me - yet again we see a chart with the main cold pool of air and Arctic weather with snow and bitterly cold winds go to Greece and most of SE Europe:

Yet again - typical  - The WInter goes to Spain, southern and central and south eastern Europe instead:

I know this pattern will change but it just proves that it's not happening or going to happen for the UK this year.

I KNOW THIS IS NOT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY BUT - The point I am making is the location of the HP - it's always in the wrong places at the wrong time.

12Z making a better effort with the second bite - -7 to -10 across the UK.

Some sort of colder regime looks likely now first week of Jan.

GFS goes for this in the new year: and followed in deepest FI with a classic toppler. As good as it gets.

and GEM "rounds things off" with this:
