Cold SE-ly flow accelerating over the Cairngorms is bringing a classic windstorm this afternoon. 1500 observation at Cairngorm summit is 86 gust 110 knots which is 99 gust 126 mph, and with a temperature of -4!
Not a day to be anywhere near the mountains. Even at the car park at 650m the wind will probably be gusting close to 100mph and the air full of blowing snow and grit. If you've ever been up there in one of these storms you'll know exactly what I'm talking about - it's just beyond belief.
