Spain reportedly made over 800 passes in their game against Italy.

The only way England have any chance of doing the same is by Wayne Rooney appearing on Mastermind.

I said pre-tourney that it had Spain v Germany final written all over it. That's still possible. The difference now is I think Germany would win it. They were superb at times tonight.

Germans were indeed excellent tonight. However, I think that whether it's England or Italy that come out on top on Sunday night, the winners of that game will be a harder test for the Germans that Greece were tonight. The Italians don't look like giving away much defensively and England seem to have held their own thus far. Quite a few people here were writing off England's chances before the France game, but so far in this tournament I think they've exceeded expectations.

SPAIN V FRANCE we would say spain. I am split between spain and portugal in the final.

Spanish boss Vicente del Bosque again looks set to
start two-goal Fernando Torres in an unchanged side.

That would leave Cesc Fabregas, who himself has scored two Euro 2012 goals,
on the substitutes bench once more.

France will be without suspended centre-back Philippe Mexes following his
second tournament booking, Laurent Koscielny will deputise for him.

Yohan Cabaye is set to start after overcoming the thigh injury that saw him
miss out against Sweden.

Samir Nasri and Franck Ribery are both expected to be fit for France to face
Spain in the Euro 2012 quarter-finals on Saturday.

The two midfielders did not take part in Wednesday's training session, with
Nasri nursing a knee injury and Ribery having picked up a blister on his left
foot.

"They are doing very well," said France assistant coach Alain Boghossian.
"They missed training [on Wednesday] to look after some little niggles."

Summation from Parker in the following piece from The Scotsman.

"ENGLAND’S players are increasingly confident they can ‘do a Chelsea’ at the European Championship, according to Scott Parker."

This presupposes that every team England faces from here on in doesn't perform. Stranger things have happened.

You know, if we get through tomorrow I think the new feeling of togetherness and also that we owe the Germans, could well stand us in good stead.

The Germans were certainly excellent last night against a very poor Greek side. Going forward Germany are superb and probably the best team in Europe but defensively they are only average and a good attacking team could cause them big problems.

For the first time in my life I actually want France to win tonight Spain have had their time, tippy tappy is getting a bit old now. Allez les bleus!!!

The increase to 32 teams that every WC has had since 1998 only increased the number of teams eliminated after the group stage, which I feel has done nothing to improve the tournament. When it was 24 teams, only 8 were eliminated after the first round with 16 going through to the knockout stage, so more remained in the tournament than were eliminated.
