Denmark v Germany.

Denmark winger Dennis Rommedahl misses out with a leg muscle strain, while midfielder Niki Zimling is a doubt.

"We probably won't know about him up until the minutes before kick-off," said coach Morten Olsen.

Germany are without suspended right-back Jerome Boateng, who picked up his second yellow card against the Dutch.

Benedict Howedes could replace him but Joachim Loew also hinted that he may switch captain Philipp Lahm from the left, or even play a three-man defence.MATCH PREVIEW

"Everybody is talking about a Germany-Spain final. But there is a long way to go to get there. We have not achieved anything yet."

Mario Gomez

Talking about, and quite probably salivating. But three-goal hero Gomez is right to warn against thinking too far ahead. Football can be perverse, and this is one of those situations where - watch out below! - logic will be thrown out of the window should the super-sleek Germans, with two wins out of two so far, not progress.

The only way the unthinkable can happen is if they lose to Denmark (by any result other than defeat by a deficit of one goal in which they score at least two i.e. 3-2, 4-3, 5-4, etc.) and Portugal beat the Dutch.

It was 20 years ago, in the 1992 European Championship final, that Denmark caused a shock of potentially comparable scale by beating neighbours Germany 2-0. Morten Olsen's side will try to summon that spirit, but whether they possess the required quality is debatable. Young Ajax 'star' Christian Eriksen has not shone as yet and canny winger Dennis Rommedahl is out injured. Their main hope lies with Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner, who Swansea, Benfica and Galatasaray are reported to be interested in after his two goals against Portugal.

But Germany's firepower is daunting. Bastian Schweinsteiger is in sensational form, with piercing passes galore, and his description of the in-form Gomez is illuminating: "The good thing with Mario is that he needs almost zero chances and still scores." Experience on the biggest stage is everywhere in the team: Lukas Podolski is set to win his 100th cap.

Die Mannschaft will top the group if they can get a point. The stage is set for some drama… or grinding, admirable, German predictability.MATCH FACTS

Portugal v Holland.

TEAM NEWS

Portugal are boosted by the return of defender Miguel Lopes following a cold.

With Lopes passed fit head coach Paulo Bento has a fully-fit squad of 23 players to choose from.

Netherlands boss Bert van Marwijk has intimated he will change his team, with Rafael van der Vaart and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar tipped to start.

Veteran Mark van Bommel and winger Ibrahim Afellay were substituted against Germany and are likely to be sacrificed as the Dutch go for goals.MATCH PREVIEW

It's the group stage in only but name for the Netherlands, who need to win by two clear goals to stand any chance of progressing to the knockout stages - and even then they need old foes Germany to beat the Danes. Not quite mission impossible, but certainly mission improbable on the evidence the Dutch have demonstrated so far. No country has ever reached the knockout phase at a Euro after losing their first two matches.

Familiar adversaries Portugal stand in their immediate way, a side they have beaten only once in 10 meetings. Another statistic to worry the Dutch is the fact that they stand on the verge of losing three straight matches for the first time since 1990; the country that inflicted that third defeat on them back then - Portugal.

Two years ago the Netherlands were 90 minutes from lifting the World Cup, now they are 90 minutes from heading home early as the first major casualties of Euro 2012. Head coach Bert van Marwijk looks set to change the shape of his side as he goes for goals and may even give in to the Dutch press by starting striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.

The situation for Portugal is a lot brighter following their dramatic midweek 3-2 win over Denmark - they merely need to better the Danes' result to make the last eight. The Portuguese have a proud European Championship pedigree - they are the only side who have never crashed out at the group stage before, and they will be doing everything in their power to keep that record going.

Jose Mourinho said of his countrymen this week that they are one of the "two or three" best sides at Euro 2012 because: "They don't depend on other teams, they only depend on themselves." The rest of Europe are arguably still to see the potential of this current Portugal side at this championship but they most definitely have not been able to depend on captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who is still to open his account despite 10 shots so far.MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

* The Netherlands have won only one of their previous 10 meetings with Portugal, a 1-0 victory in a European Championship qualifier in October 1991. Portugal have won six with the other three matches drawn.

* Portugal have kept a clean sheet against the Netherlands in six of their 10 encounters.

* The World Cup meeting in 2006 was marred by a record-equaling 16 yellow cards, which led to four red cards (two for each country).

* The two countries are meeting for a third time in the last five major tournaments.

Greece are not a bad team actually. Watched the game on BBC3 and they outplayed the Russains. They should have beated Poland as well in the first game. Felt sorry for the Captain who will miss the next game after an appalling yellow card decision. He also misses out on breaking the record for the being  the most capped player.

2 more good games tonight thought Portugal looked really good against a very average looking Dutch side. Ronaldo made up for his stinker against Denmark with a really good performance. If he gets going in this tournament he could be almost unstoppable. The Dutch defence was shocking though, you would of got good odds on the Dutch losing all 3 group games.

So next we have

Croatia V Spain

Italy V Ireland

Croatia striker Mario Mandzukic was substituted against
Italy because of a knock and will be assessed.

The Croats began against Italy with a 4-4-2 formation, but switched to
4-2-3-1 at half-time to enable Luka Modric to play further forward.

If he keeps that role then Ivan Rakitic will drop deep to play alongside
holding midfielder Ognjen Vukojevic.

Spain's Sergio Busquets hurt his foot against Ireland, but a scan showed no
damage, and he has been passed fit.

Striker Fernando Torres is expected to keep his place after scoring twice
against the Irish.

Cesc Fabregas netted as a substitute in that match but with competition for
places fierce he may remain on the bench.

MATCH PREVIEW

Croatia and Spain have bristled at conspiracy theorists who suggest the two
sides would settle for a 2-2 draw, a result that will take both teams into the
quarter-finals at Italy's expense.  BBC

AND IRELAND

Mario Balotelli trained on Sunday despite limping
out of training 24 hours earlier with a knee injury but coach Cessare Prandelli
has suggested he may rest Balotelli regardless

Centre-back Andrea Barzagli is expected to feature despite missing the
opening two matches with a calf problem.

Damien Duff will captain Ireland on his 100th appearance for his country.

Striker Kevin Doyle starts at the expense of Simon Cox in manager Giovanni
Trapattoni's only change.

MATCH PREVIEW  RAY HOUGHTON

The Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 hopes may be over a little too
prematurely for everyone concerned but an encounter with Italy allows the
country to reminisce about past glories, to celebrate the coaching achievements
of boss Giovanni Trapattoni and is perhaps one final moment in the spotlight for
some of the country's old guard - although not Robbie Keane who has vowed to
play on.

It was exactly 18 years ago, 18th June 1994, that Ireland beat Italy for the
first time in their history courtesy of Ray Houghton's famous strike at the
World Cup finals. It's also a poignant date as six Catholic men were murdered by
gunmen whilst watching the match in Northern Ireland. The Republic of Ireland's
players will wear black armbands as a sign of respect to those who lost their
lives in the Loughinisland massacre.

Since 1994, the Irish have lost to Italy only once in four meetings since
then and become somewhat of a bogey side for their more illustrious opponents.
Their incentive this time around is knowing victory would see them finish above
the 2006 world champions in the final Group C standings.

The situation for Italy is eerily similar to that what confronted them ahead
of their final match for Euro 2004. No matter how big a win against the Irish, a
2-2 draw (or higher score draw) in the other group game between Spain and
Croatia will ensure the Italians head home early - this because head-to-head
records come into play when two or more countries finish level on points.
Italy's 1-1 draw with both nations would therefore be seen as the weaker result.
Sweden and Denmark conjured up a 2-2 draw eight years ago to end Italian hopes;
the Azzurri were managed by a certain Giovanni Trapattoni back then. Is he about
to watch the same fate unfold on his motherland again but this time from the
opposite dug-out?

Current Italian head coach Cessare Prandelli may have seamlessly guided his
country through qualifying as they remained unbeaten but they are the only side
at Euro 2012 who are yet to win a match this calendar year. Their last victory
was a 2-0 friendly win over Poland in Wroclaw last November but Italy have also
never recorded a competitive victory on Polish soil drawing all five games -
three against Poland in various qualifying competitions throughout the years and
obviously both Euro 2012 group matches to date.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head This is the third meeting between the countries at a major tournament but
the first at a European Championship. Italy won their 1990 World Cup encounter
1-0, Ireland won by the same scoreline four years later at the 1994 World Cup.This fixture takes place on the 18-year anniversary of Ray Houghton's famous
winner for Ireland in their 1-0 win over Italy at the 1994 World Cup in New
York.Ireland are unbeaten in three matches against Italy under Giovanni
Trapattoni's management. They won a friendly 2-0 in the Belgian city of Liege
last summer, following on from back-to-back draws in qualifying for the 2010
World Cup.

Italy Italy have gone six games without a win at either the European Championship
or World Cup finals since beating France 2-0 in their final group stage match in
Euro 2008 - it's their longest ever major tournament winless streak. The Italians have won their final group game at the last three Euros
tournaments - 2-0 against France in 2008, 2-1 versus Bulgaria in 2004 and 2-1
against Sweden in 2000.Italy could become the first country to draw all three group matches in Euro
finals history.

Ireland Giovanni Trapattoni is looking to become the first man to coach a nation to
victory against his motherland at the European Championship since Guus Hiddink,
whose Russia side beat the Netherlands 3-1 in the quarter-finals of Euro 2008.Trapattoni has failed to progress from the group stages in both Euros he has
managed in, after also failing to advance with Italy in 2004.Damien Duff will win his 100th cap, becoming the fifth player to reach this
milestone for Ireland.
