Apparently any tournament is "So, so, so much more special if the hosts stay in."..... Is it?

Anyone else think the Euros is a far superior tournament to The World Cup? I'm genuinely enjoying this tournament more than any for some while. I'm sure the lack of anxiousness over what England will and won't do is part of that, but most of the games have been well contested and technically impressive

Apparently UEFA have said that Russia will be docked six points in qualifying for the next European Championship if their fans step out of line again after disturbances at their opening Euro 2012 game against the Czech Republic last Friday.

Seems odd as I understand that about 5 times as many Poles were arrested as were Russians.

Russia have been given a six-point deduction, which will be suspended, from their next Euro qualifying campaign following the improper behaviour of their fans at Friday's Czech Republic match. They have also been fined 120,000 Euros. Seems quite harsh but I suppose its good to see UEFA act. This dosen't include the Poland game violence so Russia might get punished again as well as Poland.

Big game tonight Germany v Nertherlands I dont think Germany are as good as everybody seems to think they are I really hope the Dutch stuff them.

Big game Bendtner with the equaliser and his 2nd of the game! His 20th goal in his 50th match for Denmark not to shabby for someone who has been fairly poor all his career in England. Ronaldo is having a mare though.

Did I miss anything

Just got in from work, don't mention highlights, as the wife doesn't like football, so it won't be on anyway

Cor, Helder Postiga got a goal, surprised, but maybe not, yet another throwaway from Spurs who has presumably played better for who ever he is playing for instead.

Ronaldo should have had two. Poor by his standard. Dry in poland. Watering the pitch before the holland game. so a gary linker and pundits say , no trophy for holland since 86 and no trophy for germany since 1996.

My word, Gomez is scoring on the big occasion! Watched him in the Champions League final and he was very nervous and missed many chances. Van Persie's turn to fluff his lines!

So Italy v Croatia.

Italy's Andrea Barzagli is not ready to return so Daniele De Rossi will continue as a makeshift centre-back.

Azzurri coach Cesare Prandelli may drop Mario Balotelli in favour of Antonio Di Natale, who scored as a substitute against Spain on Sunday.

Croatia boss Slaven Bilic selected an attacking line-up against Ireland, and could pick a more conservative side.

One option would be to switch right-back Darijo Srna to the right wing, a position he often filled in qualifying.MATCH PREVIEW

Spain v Ireland.

TEAM NEWS

Spain are sweating on the fitness of Cesc Fabregas after he picked up a thigh injury.

If Fabregas is unfit, Vicente del Bosque may decide to play an orthodox striker with Fernando Torres favourite to be given the nod.

Republic of Ireland centre-back Richard Dunne looks fit to play despite missing training on Monday with blisters.

Jon Walters could be preferred to Kevin Doyle up front after impressing as a substitute against Croatia.MATCH PREVIEW

A decade ago - at the last major tournament they qualified for - the Republic of Ireland's 2002 World Cup hopes were ended by Spain, and following their unexpected 3-1 capitulation to Croatia in their opening match, the Irish know they must take something against the world and European champions this time around or face elimination once again. Good luck ireland.

No.............................................................

"The England band will be allowed to play during the Group D game against Sweden in Kiev on Friday night, after being prevented by ground security from bringing in their instruments to England's Euro 2012 opener against France in Donetsk.

"Swedish fans will be outnumbering English fans four to one at the game so we'll be doing our best to generate as much noise as possible," band leader John Hemmingham said."
