Just shows, yet again, that many footballers are too thick to use social networking sites in their position

Defensive organisation has been a lynchpin of Hodgson's success, but he has loaded the squad with attacking midfielders to add an attacking threat. Don't expect fireworks without Rooney, but England have shown in recent games that a counter-attacking approach suits them.

Likely formation:Ā 4-2-3-1

Possible starting XIĀ : Joe Hart; Glen Johnson, John Terry, Joleon Lescott, Ashley Cole; Scott Parker, James Milner; Theo Walcott, Steven Gerrard, Ashley Young; Danny Welbeck

STAR MAN

After more than a decade as one of the world's best midfielders, can Liverpool'sĀ Steven GerrardĀ haul England's underachievers to the heights which were expected of them at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa?

One of the so-called 'Golden Generation' upon whom the lights are starting to fade, at least at international level, much will rest on inspirational Gerrard initially - if fully fit - in the absence of his fellow Liverpudlian Wayne Rooney, who is banned for the first two group games.

But it's ok, he has the "can't play with Lampard" media created excuse to fall back on when he's explaining to his grandchildren why he was only successful at club level.

My tip is Holland. Maybe not to win it, but they certainly have a chance, and given their squad I'm a bit surprised that more isn't being made of their chances.

I am sticking to the facts, not acting on your perceptions of what Four intended. I am not a mind reader. Taking you at your word would take us back to "inquisition" type justice. The words he used were OK.

But feel free to believe what you like. *

It is highly entertaining seeing you expend such a lot of effort defending the indefensible.

My efforts, may be entertaining you, but, are about informing readers who also 'believe what they like' and who will be interested to learn that you would almost always, as you recently posted, follow the core (consensus) climate science - without question. You  believe the science that the consensus teaches - without question.

And for those readers, this means your efforts are about distraction away from evidence which supports alternative science. As in this post where we have discussed  the meaning of words rather than  'extremes weather events'.

Sad news for Defoe. The death of his father sees him return home.

Oh Platini, you really are a muppet. I'd have a lot more respect for this England squad if, to a man, they all left the pitch at the first racist chant and refused to come back on

Indeed, awful news.

If Defoe doesn't return (although he probably will) I'm assuming Woy will have Nathan Eccleston on standby.

Could give a whole new meaning to England 'parking the bus' if Woy puts his caravan out on the pitch too.

I reckon he'll start with Carrol but I think we could get in behind France with pace on the counter so I would go...

4-5-1 or 4-3-2-1 however you wanna look at it

You know perfectly well that I do not accept the science without question.  That's simple lame Dave and you know it.

I might just as well say that you are inclined to believe absolutely anything that challenges the science - without question.  Based on your track record here that is more likely to be accurate than your statement about me.

I see you are unable to let go of this - let's try yet again.  The paper was about seasonal variability of climate.   It was not about extreme weather events.  I accept that there is an overlap at the margins - you seem unable or incapable of accepting that Four's comment was 98% inappropriate.  Once again, nothing to do with distraction and everything to do with clear thinking.  Indeed I could accuse you of distraction, so intent are you on maintaining this attempted but ill-fated defence of Four's inappropriate comment.

Stubborn and wrong is not a good combination.  Move on.

Talk about glasshouses and throwing stones, I think he would be better off doing his talking on the pitch as it were. Plenty time for how great we are after we beat them.

His comment about the 6 liverpool players in the squad  "we battered teams at times but we did not have the killer instinct" made me laugh. As they got battered also, which is why the manager was sacked.
