Relegation for Cardiff, not Forest  Whittingham, Ledley and probably Chopra. That's the entier spine of the team and their three best players, and they can't sign anyone else because of the transfer embargo, and even if they somehow got it lifted they've no money anyway

We've just resigned Liam Rosenior  Happy with that. Quality attacking defender. Things starting to take shape

Seeing as I constantly prove you wrong in this thread (see my last post for most recent embarrassment) I wouldn't be so quick to assume because you heard a "rumour". I will gaurantee you right now any monetary figure you care to name that our new stadium will be built. It's not an assumption, it's a FACT and I KNOW, whereas you have probably been talking to your inbred mate Earl again 😉 The shortfall from the Sainsburys deal (I doubt you know any of this detail) is covered, but there will be plenty of political posturing from both sides before it's settled by Lansdown. so name your figure. I dare you to make a fool of yourself again and lose money at the same time. So... How much? 😉

Hmmm... Looks like we're going to start this season as we did last season with BOTH of our first choice strikers out injured  Coppell will have to bring in someone else now. Maybe a loan. Both of them expected to miss the first game, possibly first two

I suggest you go and download the PDF that's available for public viewing on Cardiff's debts and then reassess your figure 😉

QPR part-owner Bernie Ecclestone's views on, er, QPR.

I almost peed myself laughing when I read this

Ecclestone does not exactly talk with enthusiasm about the Championship outfit. He admits he would struggle to name a player in Neil Warnock's squad, he has only been to two or three matches although might go to more this season, and his footballing allegiances lie elsewhere.

“QPR? I don't have a real passion for it at all,” he admits. “I got into it by accident. I'm a Chelsea fan. I got involved through Flavio Briatore. It's difficult not to buy into his enthusiasm for things. I took some shares, I don't care. It's just something I've done.”

On the broader subject of the state of football, Ecclestone is quite scathing, especially when it comes to the multi-millionaires who have become club owners.

“People are either passionate enough to get into it or else they want to massage their ego,” he adds, although then insists he does not fall into either camp. “Football commercially is a disaster and is going to be in trouble until they start sorting out the costs. Look at most of the clubs in the Championship. They're all in trouble financially.”

His lack of footballing ambition is quite clear at QPR. When asked if he dreams of promotion to the Premier League for the club, quick as a flash, he replies: “I hope not. That's just even more aggravation.”

I'll be glad when pre-season is over. We now have 9 key injuries including both our strikers, Maynard and Haynes, and three of our back 4. End result - we're getting hammered week in week out by lower league and non league opposition. Losing again tonight 2-0 to Exeter at halftime. I think this season is going to be a rebuilding process. I'm reliably informed there are at least 3 new signings coming in before the season starts to add to the two we've made. One crucial thing is formation. Johnson had us playing 3-5-1 for the last 18 months whereas Coppell is very much a 4-4-2 man. It's going to take a while for the squad to adapt. Couple with so many key injuries, low confidence and change of shape I think we could get off to a very slow start indeed. Looking at the bigger picture I am very optimistic. Coppell has the history

Bizarrely it's true  David James' agent has been in talks with us since yesterday. It wont happen. He has offers from Chelsea and Celtic. Ok, Celtic are a rubbish little side in a crap league in Scotland, but Chelsea in the Prem and a chance of a league winners medal? Do the math as they say. Not that I'm bothered. I would imagine we'd have to pay an astronomical wage for him. Our current top earner is Maynard on £16k a week

Erm.... no.

Matty... Celtic  are not a rubbish little side... yes they play in a rubbish league. They have history that many Prem clubs could only dream of, they play in front of a home crowd of 60,000 are always challenging for all domestic honours and have a good record against English sides. Also to note they were the first British team to win the european cup !

Having said all that last season they won stuff all and this season they look like they already been knocked out of the champs league after losing the first leg 3-0 away at Braga of Portugal....

Sunderland want James. First team football in the Prem and a better wage puts this stupid rumour to bed 👍

Even Calamity could get into the Sunderland first team, given Gordon has a busted arm. That said, I personally am not entirely sure whether a two-armed James is any better than a one-armed Gordon.

Lol! True 😂 We picked up another two injuries last night. We now have 11 injuries in a squad of 24 players. In other words we don't even have enough fit players to field a full side plus subs 💤 we are in deep brown stuff to say the least 😱

Went to the O's last night to watch them play against some local kids who happened to be wearing a spurs shirt.
As this is the football league thread (and I have no idea what Spurs will look like based on that) I comment on the O's performance.

They looked far more willing to keep the ball on the ground compared to the couple of times I've seem them last year. In Alex Revell, it looks like we actually have a really good forward man able to hold the ball up well. He managed to hit the woodwork 3 times which was dreadfully unlucky. The new captain Dawson looks really tidy in the middle of the park too.
Seems like Russell Slade has worked really hard to build a side with 9 players leaving in the close season, and in most cases he's done well. We did seem to loose our way a little once some subs were made though, so it could be a case of having a strong first 11 but no strength in depth. I would like to think though, that we wont be looking over our shoulders at the drop zone this year. That said, playoffs are probably beyond us too.

He's not frankly. Gordon, after a shaky spell, has performed at a very high level every week for much of last season and will be a big loss to us. But I'd rather give either of our back up keepers a chance over bringing James in.

Don't you just love pre season friendlies

Not that I should talk as Town also have a few injury worries .....  Although Wickham's injury might help put off the ugly premiereship hyenas who are after him .....    And at least we're winning our friendlies      I see Keane hasn't given up on getting Fulop yet either.   Though a new goalkeeper is hardly our priority.  Unless they are also good a goal scoring!
