Excellent player, well worth the money Ferguson paid for him.

Based on tonight's performance, it still looks to me as if Shiteh are going to give United a good run for their money.

The plastic Chavs may yet have something to say although the addition of Mata and Lokuku still isn't enough, especially when you have the likes of Fat Frank playing on.

BTW: Very impressed with Shiteh on Sunday - superb movement on and off the ball. Mancini seems to have unleashed the players after his defensive paranoia last season.

Liverpool? Two words - 'Jordan Henderson'

Good performance from a youthfull Man U team last night. A real team performance with players really enjoying themselves. The Man U starting XI consisted of 7 British players (6 English + 1 Ulsterman) and 2 subs that came on were also Brits. I just wonder how many top prem teams will field that many home grown players (and Wenger this means Brits and not africans brought over at a young age). I think it certainly gives Man U a slight edge playing with so many home grown players, the squad looks really happy, settled and willing to work hard for each other. Definitley prem contendors again but a million miles away from Barca !!

A great shame Sandro was injured last night - he'd have shut your powder puff midfield down.

Still, hopefully in the return fixture we'll have Sandro and Diarra to deal with your lot.

Bit of a waste really when Man U strengths in attack come from having great width.

Diarra can slot in at RB if needs be. There is more to his game than simply being a bog standard DM.

Is Harry's tactic to pack the midfield and not bother with a striker?

(after all, Spurs haven't had a striker on their books for how many seasons now?)

That's how it appears. Mind you, it's difficult when you can't offload people like Crouch.

I'm assuming Adebyor will sign shortly and we'll probably get Leandro in January. So that should address the problems up front.

I'd have given Pavlyuchenko more of a chance. Maybe he's a bit lazy, but he has a good touch and is an excellent finisher. I am baffled why Crouch got the nod over him so often last season. Pav's goals per game ratio was the best of all your strikers last season, yet he is restricted to 10-20 minute cameos.

Well, I did hear from someone a while back that he was once wanted by BBC Scotland to play Rab C Nesbitt...

First off, I like Wenger and think he's been a genius in the transfer market in the past. He also gets his teams playing the most attractive football (IMO) in the league.

But the following just shows he's struggling to adapt to the modern transfer market:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/14676338.stm

He seems to have the attitude that he alone should set the transfer value of players he's chasing, even if this flies in the face of the value the rest of the market believes. It's one thing to not be held to ransom by clubs wanting extortionate fees, but quite another to refuse to believe that there's been stupid transfer fee inflation in recent years (principally driven first by Chavski, then by Shiteh).

The irony is, he takes a completely different line when it's Arsenal players being targetted by other clubs, demanding the sort of giant transfer fee from other clubs that he baulks at paying.

Man U have paid £18m for Phil Jones, who's behind Cahill in terms of career development. Jones may or may not be better, long-term, but Cahill's nearer the finished article & has played for England already. Bolton will certainly be looking for a fee close to what Man U paid - and remember that Bolton neither need nor want to sell. Conversely, Wenger NEEDS a strong CB. And everyone knows he's just trousered £60m in fees from Nasri & Fabregas.

Of course, the current Cahill situation may just be posturing and Wenger will pay the big price the transfer needs. But the attitude of Wenger in the transfer market has seen Arsenal miss out on key players, leaving them too weak in crucial positions and consigned them to also-rans.
