16.5C. Sunny spells with a freshening SSE breeze. 

(The rain heavy at times, spreading east that  both Met Office and BBC were predicting yesterday for today, is now forecast to be a few isolated rainshowers). 

And one now as I type. Big rain drops too!

Overcast with very light spitty rain, tried to brighten up on a couple of occasions earlier on today. Still a very mild-feeling 19.0 C & low 80% H, especially with virtually no wind to speak of.

After yesterday's gloomy wet day, quite the opposite today, beautiful and sunny all day, no wind and the smell of Autumn up in the Hermitage Woods. 16 C the maximum 🍁🍂

Last night was our coldest night of this autumn so far as the overnight minimum temperature dropped to 3.56°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 5.56°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh but only around 2°C at Edinburgh Airport with the first ground frost of the season at Gogarbank where the ground minimum temperature was -0.2°C.

Just before dawn though, the temperature jumped up by quite a bit as high cloud started to spill in from the west and there is also some cloud on the eastern horizon which prevented us from getting a proper view of this morning's sunrise.

We have seen a little bit of sunshine to start today, but the Sun has already started to go behind that high to medium level cloud.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

As John has reported, our coldest morning of the Autumn and the first visible ground frost here in my wee frost hollow it fell to 3 C in my garden. 2 C at the airport in the Forth Valley but 6 C up at 180m (Swanston)

This illustrates how topography affects the minimum temperature on cold, clear nights

Very cold, windy and dull at 16C so the 850's 13-14c here turn out massive fake and failed to deliver as required.   Yesterday was a lot warmer this time at 11am with full sunshine after a cold start.  I knew it will be completely fake warmth so for sure after tomorrow it will be much warmer and sunnier with lower 850's.

Beautiful day here today and luckily I have the day off. Just back from a very warm dog walk. The local woods are looking very dry again with an early carpet of crispy leaves. There's a fair breeze blowing but, like it has been throughout this summer and early autumn, it's a warm one

Beautiful day here today and luckily I have the day off. Just back from a very warm dog walk. The local woods are looking very dry again with an early carpet of crispy leaves. There's a fair breeze blowing but, like it has been throughout this summer and early autumn, it's a warm one

Turned out quite Summer-like today with hazy sun and a peak of 22.2 C despite sea mist trying to move in. After 13 mm of rain last night, the recently sown grass seed in lawn is coming along like great guns.

Noticeably warm outside this evening - it's happily shorts and t shirt weather out there despite being pitch black!

20c being reported locally and it's nearly 9pm and at the end of September! Bonkers stuff.

Currently living at roughly 65m asl North of Cowbridge in the Vale of Glamorgan.
