Most of that fell within a 2 hour period in which an incredible 10.6 mm of that fell in just a single hour during today to give us our highest hourly rainfall rate of this year so far by quite a considerable amount.

Got home to watch a downpour pass 200m to my south. Is anybody else here in the South still on zero measurable rainfall since last June ?

You've been very unlucky in missing the rain that's been around!

The dry spell ended here in the early hours of the 17th, with 6.8mm. There was 0.4mm on the 18th, 0.4mm on the 19th, and there's been 1mm so far today with some more rain lurking nearby (it's gone very dark). The ground is still parched and dry, of course, but the grass that's survived, what little there is, seems a shade or two greener today.

Only 265.4mm YTD, mind you!

That's grim FW. The drought has spoiled my Summer, I hate looking at the brown, dead and dying vegetation. Fingers crossed you get something soon, already the landscape looks better round here. 

Recorded 36vmm here but two local stations in the eastbourne area recorded over 50 mm since midnight . Such intense downpours were unforecasted here  . 

Thanks, yes it is. Very sad to see my mature silver birch that I planted 45 years ago now completely brown and dead. I've read it could recover next Spring but that is dubious even if I do get any rain by then. The issue really is that I also only had 19mm of rain between March 6th and May 31st and it's little wonder. Last Autumn, following our driest summer since I started recording was just about average, and whilst January and February were good and above average they weren't exceptional. Goodness knows what would have happened if we hadn't have had the wet start to June!

It rained. 5.00am -5.30am. Just 2.5mm and that was first for 63 days if you count the 1.4mm in late June. Otherwise since substantial rain 66 days! Smelt lovely outside and water butts 2/3 full. It takes 3mm to fill them once the gutters start flowing. The air has that more unstable humid feel about it today although already up to 22.2C in mostly cloudy skies with odd sunny break.
