What effect (if any) do you think the record sea temperatures around the UK will have on our Autumn storms.
And similarly what effect might there be on the Mediterranean basin - particularly on Medicanes.
For info we're currently running a staggering 2c above average with some places 4 or 5c above.
Southampton today is at 22.4c!

I'd supposed that the increase in sea temperatures would lead to stronger storms buts it's fascinating to see some research that starts to quantify the impact.

What they getting in Cyprus today with storms over Nicosia, can't we get the same way for us here when Autumn come that give us thunderstorms, hail and dropping fast temperatures during the rain? Don't want a bog standard wet and windy after this drought ends. With higher SST's should bring something more interesting weather events to be par with Med storms in the autumn.
