Steady rain. It rained yesterday evening and it's been raining again since 4am

The persistent August westerly seems to have died down thankfully

Current temperature 14 C which is the overnight minimum

In fact, yet again, today, at noon, Edinburgh is the coldest city in Europe & Western Russia

We've reached 16 C now in drizzle

Wow - after an uneventful and mostly cloudy afternoon the sun came out for half an hour, 27.5C or so, compared to 26 under the cloud. All of a sudden an almighty whoosh, dry leaves flying everywhere for a minute, and like yesterday it heralds a change from maritime sea breeze to continental heat. The temperature shot up 3 degrees instantly (to 30.5) and the dewpoint similarly fell (from 18.4 to 13.3).

We've reached 16 C now in drizzle

We do Retron! But it's been raining here for 24 hrs now, mostly light but making for a gloomy, cool feel.

You won't like to hear this but the house is 19 C inside. I'm sat in a fleece!

It's still in the 30s here outside, 30.9 on the shady side upstairs and 34C on the sunny side. And downstairs it's 26C, and there's bugger-all I can do to cool the downstairs down... as it's still warmer outside.

EDIT: And here's the view in the garden. Once upon a time the lawn was lush and verdant, full of daisies and clover...

With the Sun having now come out, we've now had a very late increase in the temperature here in Edinburgh to just over 16°C.
