A weird day, after a gloomy, cool morning the light wind is now coming from the south, the cloud is breaking up and it's suddenly warm and humid! It's warm enough to sit in the garden! It's reached 22 C

Rain cleared but in it's wake the dew point has shot up.

Dp was 21C recently

Air temperature around 24C

Coupled with the wetness from the rain it's feeling very sultry now. Thankfully there is a gentle breeze blowing from time to time.

Overnight rain has cleared away here in Edinburgh to leave a mostly cloudy day but we've now lost that wind from off the North Sea which was around yesterday and as a result, the botanic gardens in Edinburgh has now had its first 20+°C maximum of this month with a current temperature of 21.7°C. This means that all of the Edinburgh stations along with Charterhall down in the Borders have now had at least one 20+°C maximum this month.

Light rain! 20 seconds' worth as a shower zips through - I went outside to experience it, but it stopped just as I went out. No smell of petrichor and not enough to dampen the ground.

Other than that - partly cloudy, breezy, 21.4, dew 17.2. The overnight low was 17.2, yesterday's high was 32.3.

Here in Edinburgh, today has started off on a mostly cloudy note with the odd sunny interval at times, but also the odd shower which has even been enough to dampen the ground though not much more than that.

Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh more generally, but up to around 17°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

No rain although quite a bit of cloud and blustery of course.

The max was 24.6c so the coolest day since the 29th June, albeit still above average, just...

Even down in the Borders, today's maximum temperature only reached 19.34°C.

Today has also been windy with maximum wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank reaching around 37mph from the west.

The day is ending on a mostly overcast note with a total of just 2.7 hours of sunshine being recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank. However, that sunshine total is actually slightly higher than yesterday and this month has got off to a dull start as we are now 5 days into it with a monthly total of 17.0 hours so far at Edinburgh Gogarbank which is only 11.7% of the 1991-2020 August average. Unless we start to see more sunshine fairly soon, this summer could still end up being duller than average despite the very sunny July which we had.

Currently around 14°C here in Edinburgh

A rather dull and damp start to today here in Edinburgh.

Last night's overnight minimum temperatures were 11.66°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank, 12.15°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, 10.7°C at Swanston in the south of Edinburgh and 12°C at Edinburgh Airport.

Currently around 12°C here in Edinburgh

Some promising dark grey cloud built up to the north late morning, but of course came to nothing! Still cloudy, still breezy.
