Despite showers popping up over south and east Kent today, the Folkestone Rain Deflector remained as effective as ever as I enter the 35th day without any significant rain.

0.6 mm at the vineyard. That’s compared with well North of 80mm in June. And over 200mm in July 2025 when the rest of the South was in drought!

6.6mm at my Southern Burgundy weather station. But it’s much yellower there. A mean temp for the month of 25.6C, that’s more than 6C warmer than the Kent one, a July average dpt of 11C, and only 26mm in June.

Here also, the unthinkable has happened.   Zero measurable rainfall for the whole of July, with just a couple of days having just a fleeting few spots of rain (7th and 26th July).  Not enough to even register 0.1mm.   So therefore 0.0mm it is here for July.   Certainly the first month I've recorded without rainfall, in records that go back 44 years.   Previous driest month was February 1985 with 1.5mm.

Also, we've now had 45 consecutive days with just 1mm of rain, that falling on June 30th.

Currently this is the longest spell without rain since 2002 (Mar 23rd-Apr 25th)
