That around 38C here and they never back down so they must be right, if Europe are so hot then England cannot miss out.  I see it push further north to the border with high 20's.

GFS has 37c here.    Meanwhile the MetO automated forecast has 28c     That's quite a difference.     ECM has just 27c .....

A meeting in the middle is likely.  

The GFS had quite widespread 30s today for EA and SE. So its obviously over doing it atm. Maybe over compensating for the dry ground? 

Quite often you see a 180 degree flip. What’s the betting the 12z has GFS bringing us cool westerlies and a breakdown while ECM and AIFS suddenly decide on a heatwave? 

Max of 29.7 so far here, the gusty SW'ly and the foehn from the Downs acting in tandem. Brogdale will be similar but of course that's not an automatic station!

Got to 29.2C up in the downs too. 

30.2 now. The wind is alternating between WNW/W and WSW/SW, when it's south of west the temperature shoots up! 

The dewpoint has fallen markedly too, 13.3 (35% RH).

Still soon be some respite for me as most models showing 20-22CC in the SW from next weekend on which is where I am heading that week.

Still rock solid with mid 30s here as well... as it has been ever since Wednesday first appeared on xc a few days ago. I've never seen such consistent modelling of exceptional heat (for here). 

EDIT: And the MetO raw is now up to 32, having been slowly upping the temperature every day since Wednesday first appeared on its outlook. It keeps happening this summer and no surprise to see it again! If only it worked that way in winter (with cold temperatures, rather than winds... it always seems to ninja-up wind speeds too when storms are forecast).

GFS 18z op is a blink and you’ll miss it as well

I think for larger areas of the south, it’ll be second week in August onward 

It was 30.0 at Teddington in the end. And I'm sure Brogdale would have beaten that too!

29th 30c of the year beating 2018. Only 1995 to go. 

We need 6 more to beat 1995. Wednesday is a given, Tuesday and Thursday have plenty of 29s on the MetO raw and GFS has 30s or higher on those days.

Beyond that - the GFS op this morning has another couple of 30s on the following Monday/Tuesday, with a cooler rest of the week. That still leaves 3 weeks of August and all of September - you'd have to think 1995's record would be beaten this year.

Good alignment now. A brief hotter couple of days that won’t meet heatwave thresholds in most places, if anywhere. Maybe parts of the SE

After that it looks much cooler for a spell 

Be happy Matty is the best we can get in the UK with those low to mid 30's temps on Wed.  My heatwave threshold is 30C here so this will be around 3 days but nothing major or a threat to life.

Next 10 days looks like we have 4 to 6 days where 30c is possible.  Wednesday looks likely to be 35c+ . A great spell in a normal year.

In the SE, yeah. Here - mid 20s. Might scrape a 27 on Weds
