Whilst people are getting into the 30's, it's still cloudy and gusty here as it has been for days.  18.4c now.

The wind has really picked up here. I had to close the window as all my papers were blowing around my home office. 31C but doesn't feel like it.

Not sure if this is a genuine reading but Exeter Airport No 2 station jumped from 31.1C to 34C in 10 minutes?

Some really dry air around with all that heat, e.g. Southend:

https://tgftp.nws.noaa.gov/weather/current/EGMC.html

Wind from the W (280 degrees) at 20 MPH (17 KT) gusting to 31 MPH (27 KT) (direction variable)

Temperature 89 F (32 C)

Dew Point 39 F (4 C)

Relative Humidity 17%

It looks like an area roughly along the M4 corridor which has these very low dewpoints. Even here it's unusually low: currently 32.4, dew 10.4, 26% RH.

It reminds me very much of 2022, when we had those exceptionally hot temperatures, low dewpoints and low humidity - and a breeze.

And talking of deserts, in Las Vegas right now it's early afternoon, and they have 32.8, dew 8.9, 22% RH. Not often that London, or indeed Southend and Las Vegas have the same weather in summer!

There has been the odd little patch of blue sky during this afternoon but it continues to be as overcast as ever here so anyone can send some little bits of sunshine in this direction, I would be more than grateful.

The only consolation from this though, comes from the fact that I'm at least not sweltering in my flat for once although that may well change in the coming days as it is forecast to warm up by quite a bit even here in that time.

Managed 30C today but with a maximum dew point of 18.5C it's not felt all that bad.

Probably an element of acclimatising also going on. After a week of extreme heat and the following week still being relatively very warm indoor temperatures have hardly dropped bellow mid twenties.

And just like that, the wind's shifted round to the WSW and the humidity has returned with a vengeance. It was nice having a Vegas-style level of humidity while it lasted!

30.0, dew 17.1. I wish I was in Scotland TBH, at least you don't need aircon to sleep up there...

I can now report that the Sun has finally made an appearance here in Edinburgh, although it's got a cheek to do so now at this very late stage of the day.

Today's maximum temperature was 17.56°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 18.52°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh

A very warm night leads to a very warm morning... 19.6, dew 11.6, the overnight low being just 19.0.

The hot/dry and hot/moist airmasses kept swapping around yesterday evening, and today it looks like the hot/dry airmass is back. Another Vegas-style day beckons!

Another gloomy start in the Western Dales with cloud shrouding hills, 14 C. Heading back to Edinburgh today after a poor summer break, weatherwise. 4 days of 17 - 19 C, no sun and drizzle!

It should warm up in Northern areas this week with some sunshine. I hope it does, mid summer now and it's been a bit bland so far!

It's another day but still, our mid-summer permacast hell goes on even though there has been some bits and pieces of blue sky to my SE in the last hour or so.

Currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh

It is forecast to brighten up though and if it does, there is the chance that we could finally get that all elusive first 20+°C maximum of this month here in Edinburgh.

EDIT:

I've just looked out and instead of brightening up as it was forecast to do, it's now raining here in Edinburgh which wasn't really part of today's forecast.😡

Mostly sunny here and a bit less wind than yesterday, still the odd bit of high cloud though.

I've noticed that Teddington seems to be the "new Heathrow", it's leading the pack again today. I wonder if there is some issue with the site or if it is just very favoured by the current setup?

Another sunny, breezy and hot day - it's just broken 30 again. The humidity is higher than yesterday too, remains to be seen whether it drops again in the afternoon!
