Meanwhile the evil, cold, menacing haar is beginning to extend it's tendrils into the city. It's destroyed a rare chance for Edinburgh to experience a heatwave 😡

Apart from that, what astonishing high temperatures down south!

Great site; thanks. Resolution better than Metar also - my nearest station (Otterbourne) is on there.

Ian Ferguson reporting the Yeovilton may be discounted. Currently under scrutiny by UKMO.

Unless their is site issue, I don't see the issue, it was probably one of the most favoured locations today according to models.

Possibly, but there are no weather stations in a good place to record them!

Incidentally it's just reached 35.5C here, hottest of the day. Maybe the shift of heat eastwards is already starting to happen?

Official reading of 32c at the nearest met station to me (about 2 miles out the country) at 4pm. Tame compared to temps recorded in the UK, but pretty dam hot for Galway!

I wouldn't discount good old LHR tomorrow. The heat isn't shifting that far East, and Heathrow is North of the highest part of the downs / Surrey Hills and does very well under a full Southerly.

And Yeovilton doesn;t look out of whack with other sites. It's less than 1C higher than Merryfield and Middle Wallop, and in the modelled hottest area! Maybe because there was a pause in recording?

Fault with the temperature monitoring system at Yeovilton to blame.
