It has just updated with a 4pm reading of 36.2. And Yeovilton has hit 36.8C, now the 7th hottest day ever for the UK, beating the 1911 one-time record.

Unless their is site issue, I don't see the issue, it was probably one of the most favoured locations today according to models.

This is exactly the sort of issue I was alluding to earlier today. To be honest, it seems somewhat farcical.

A few in East Anglia, and one or two in Kent. Wiggonholt, Writtle, Frittenden, Sandton Downham...

Brogdale would be a shoo-in for tomorrow - it'd need to be somewhere north of the Downs. Sheerness and Gillingham have long since closed. Being hopeful, perhaps Brogdale *is* still going - just not uploading to WOW. It's still listed on the MetO climate station website, but I suspect that's not exactly up-to-the-minute.

It's only a degree different from Ilminster down the road, so compatible with nearby stations. Again I say, if it's runways, Heathrow has a few of those.

I wouldn't discount good old LHR tomorrow. The heat isn't shifting that far East, and Heathrow is North of the highest part of the downs / Surrey Hills and does very well under a full Southerly.

All records will be "under scrutiny" surely, before being accepted?

And Yeovilton doesn;t look out of whack with other sites. It's less than 1C higher than Merryfield and Middle Wallop, and in the modelled hottest area! Maybe because there was a pause in recording?

Where are you seeing 37.3? The BBC are now quoting 36.7C in Merryfield as the record, although Yeovilton has also posted 36.8 since then.

It's been used all year, it was the UK highest 3 days ago. Met had no problem with it then
