The Sun is still shining here in Edinburgh as I write but there is now some easterly muck out at Sea which has now reached the Leith area with Inchkeith Island in the middle of the Firth of Forth having now disappeared into that as well as parts of Leith Docks itself.

As that is happening, the temperatures are refusing to rise, and remain stuck at around 19°C here in Edinburgh, although the temperature at Swanston is still holding up for now at 22.3°C

Bet he's not laughing tomorrow night. It'll be a dessicating dry wind too, and I bet people still leave their windows open tomorrow. Mine'll be closed all the time it's hotter outside - back in 2022 it warmed even faster outside than in my shed-on-a-bungalow first floor! I expect the same tomorrow, minus the strong sea breeze that appeared around 4PM in 2022.

EDIT: At least the brickwork's cooling today, which will help. In 2022 it was 35C on the 18th (for several hours), 17C overnight then 39C on the 19th. The bricks inside the house were still warm to the touch a day and a half later.

Cooling down as the day progresses here, only 21 C now with a fresher NE wind. I hate the North Sea in summer!

The east coat haar has now reached us here in NW Edinburgh and with thick fog now setting in which means that our lovely sunshine has now disappeared as a result.😡

Currently around 18°at the airport and at the botanic gardens, but still around 22°C at Gogarbank and Swanston.

Interesting here. Medium level cloud development from the south with patchy haar (sea fog) drifting SW bringing a cool damp feel to Edinburgh now.

Some radar echoes breaking out in SW Scotland

We are in a general thunderstorm warning overnight with very high CAPE forecast...hmmm🤔

The CAPE values are very high in places currently and overnight and I suspect a few places will see some cracking thunderstorms.

Still 34.1C here. 33.5 in my home office which is a new record, although strangely doesn't feel as bad as yesterday, perhaps because of lower humidity and more of a breeze coming in.

Very muggy now down here with the strong breeze having dropped to almost calm. The first breakdown storm of the heatwave is passing to our east.

Overcast with layers of cloud some orangey brightness to our west.

Today's maximum temperatures here in Edinburgh were 23.97°C at Gogarbank and 23.3°C at Swanston, but only 20.44°C at the botanic gardens, so our increasing long wait for that elusive first official heatwave here in Edinburgh since 2022 goes on with today being cooler than the last couple of days.

The Sun made a late reappearance during this evening and as at 8:40pm BST (19:40 UTC), a total of 9.3 hours of sunshine had been recorded for today.

Currently around 16°C here in Edinburgh and much cooler than at this time yesterday.

22.6C and sunny with light winds. Any thundery stuff that came from the south last night missed here.

An easy night for sleeping as humidities must have been lower.

Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 13.85°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh and 14.61°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Following an overnight thunderstorm which resulted in a total of 5.6 mm of rain being recorded at Edinburgh  Gogarbank in just a single hour along with 3.0 mm at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh, this morning has started off with a lot of cloud and only the odd very hazy sunny interval.

For a while during the night, we had lost the wind from off the North Sea which we had yesterday but that has sadly returned this morning.

Currently around 17°C here in Edinburgh  which is already cooler than it was at this time yesterday.

I've just been to Weymouth and left home with temp of 23C.

Arrived to dense sea fog blowing in on a fresh SSW breeze. 19C there. Bliss.

Back home inland, a comfortable 22.2C and some sunshine through the lifting fog.

Digression. I've heard that one of the scariest places to be is the Bay of Biscay in thick fog and a F5 to 6 wind with rough seas. Quite common there in the summer with hot air blowing over a cold sea. The nearest today would be Portland in the fog. An atmospheric place on days like today is

21.5c and sunny.  Sun has only been out an hour after the storms and the ground is drying out but very humid. Met office automated says 35c for Leeds but can't seem how that is possible given the slow start and storms.
