Overcast, warm and humid. 17.2, dew 16.2, the overnight low was 14.7 and yesterday's high was 31.6 (and as that was on a Davis VP2, on a breezy day and with a fan whirring away, I don't doubt it either). My area will be amongst the warmest in the UK again today, then (thankfully) the torch passes further west.

Surprised to find it raining gently as I went up to unlock the village church at 8.30am.

The fog has thickened into an autumnal style @100m visibility. 2mm of rain overnight that I hadn't expected. The grass needs cutting again, although I last cut it the day before yesterday.

Edit. Since we get weather warnings for thick fog in the Autumn and Winter, I'm surprised the Met Office missed this spell of fog that's made visibility dangerous on some of the roads.

5 miles of thick fog on the road to Weymouth earlier. It's of course all gone now and lifted into thick cloud.

The sun will appear tomorrow, according to the BBC and Met Office. And then it will get hot. Currently a thick cloudy 20C  here.

Useless today for drying laundry outside because of the intense humidity.

Muggy here too, unsurprisingly, but at least there are a couple of days' respite to come from the hot weather.

27.3, dew 19.9, the high so far being 27.5.

My first warm summer day this year. I'm in Nottingham. Trouble is was cloudy and 23C! Maybe I'll experience a 25 C tomorrow before I head north to a cooler Scotland

Good Luck with the heat everyone....
