Dark just to my north over the mainland with plenty of rumbling.
02 June 2026 13:07:45
There was a loud crack of thunder and plenty of more distant rumbling from a very heavy shower which passed through here about an hour ago. Looks like more on the way. The garden is getting another welcome soaking following last night's rain

Suspect there will be some flash flooding just over the hill. Very active with frequent thunder and lightning - we're now just getting some rain but the storms seem to be back feeding into a constant line that is almost stationary.

Brief but dramatic downpour about 1530 (went into Sainsbury's and got on with shopping) but rumbles of thunder persisted as the storm slid by to the south. Cleared by 1630

Fantastic thunderstorm just exiting here now!!, very frequent lightning, literally continuous thunder without any break. Lightning flashes every few seconds at its peak. Torrential hail and rain for a time. Still getting continuous thunder, ongoing for 20 mins at least.

Another heavy shower here with thunder rumbling around. The garden has gone from being burnt to a crisp last week to getting hammered by the heavy rain

Horrific T storm just passed.  Non stop lighting and flooding in town.  Monsoon conditions. At least the broadband stayed on and Virgin hasnt gone down (yet!)  It has in the past

A fairly impressive line of showers is now showing just to my north over Fife with some bright echoes showing up on the latest radar maps.

This line of showers appears to be moving very slowly southwards but of course, the big question is whether or not they will actually make all the way to here in Edinburgh or whether they will just fizzle out before that happens (I still wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it is the latter of those two things which happens).

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Thunderstorm ongoing here, since about 15:12 (maybe just a little before) lots of strong wind after the few initial strikes, with a bit of a shower that grew more moderate briefly. Still plenty of lightning going on.

Two beefy showers earlier, now sunny with an uncomfortable wind from the west. No thunderstorms here though.

A good sharp storm about 4pm as I went to lock the village church. There were folks sheltering in the porch. The local pigeons were doing their legendary "washing of the armpits"!

Yesterday and today have both had some pretty hefty convection, but only brief spells of heavy rain.

Yesterday's peak rate was 32.6mm/hour, today it absolutely bucketed down at 52.4mm/hour. There was 4mm yesterday and 3.6mm today - most of it in both cases from just one shower!

We actually had sunshine while a dozen or so of these rumbles continued. And even with nearby strikes there wasn't rain for much of the time.
