A mostly bright and sunny start to today after the clearance of some overnight rain although there is still some cloud around as well.
Recently, I have often been regarding the fact that there's a lot of sunshine as "boring", but that's not the case this time.
Last month was slightly duller than average here and the first month of this month has led to just a measly total of 16.1 hours of sunshine being recorded in that time which at this time of the year, is possible to get in just a single day (that day would need to be virtually completely sunny for that to happen, though but that is something which can happen), and we have even had a completely sunless day amongst that.
Taking that into consideration, this morning's sunshine is actually very welcome now as this is just another example of what I always mean when I say that this is something which is appreciated a lot more when that is something which we're not used to, rather than something which is just the norm that we get all the time (that is when it then becomes "boring").
Last night's overnight minimum temperature was 10.31°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and just 9.97°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh which makes last night our coolest night of the summer so far with even a return to single figures temperatures at the botanic gardens.
Currently around 15°C here in Edinburgh.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.
