Nothing on Blitztortung lightning radar but our garden has just been hit by a bolt of lightning and it scared the crap out of me as I was looking out at the torrential rain at the time, too close for comfort as I'd taken the dogs out there a couple minutes before for a pee.

I’ve just heard a very loud crack of thunder here in NW with some very dark clouds hanging over the area and some very large raindrops.
The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Big storm over north-west Edinburgh. Fairly frequent thunder

The latest radar map shows that the storm has now moved away to our NE. It shows that this was only a very small and isolated storm with the lightning strike occurring to the WNW of here, near South Queensferry.

It appears to have missed the south of Edinburgh altogether and as I write, we’re now back to our usual blue skies and sunshine.

We had a random loud crack of thunder and bolt of lightning from a passing shower early yesterday evening

Just heard several rumbles of thunder here in Sheffield, the first time thunder was heard (i.e, thunderstorm day) for where I live since 3 September (2025).

Starting to hear rumbling thunder from a lively storm not far to my west.  Spectacular cloudscape here, great contrast with the clear blue sky to my south.

My weather team (daughters) are reporting long lasting heavy thunderstorms in Nottingham.

The radar shows a rash of storms in Notts, Derbys, Leics with lots of strikes on the lightning map

There's been plenty of distant grumblings, from the sky during the last couple of hours and the sky has been dark and moody, throwing down a few spit spots now and again. So far two lightning flashes have been witnessed  but clearly they were way off over yonder as all we got was some more grumbling a bit later. It has cooled considerably, down to 19c, and the breeze is very cool now, so hopefully we'll all get a better nights sleep, in my house at least, than last night.

I saw the radar echoes yesterday afternoon and watched the build-up about 50 miles or so north, and then the Midlands storms on the radar.

Could do with a proper soaking here, as the 9.5mm rain on the 19th May didn't really make a difference to the overall dry Spring here.

You can see who the gardeners and farmers are on this forum. And the ones who'd prefer no rain from now to September.

Slow moving storms over Milton Keynes area now.

Here in Sheffield, it's dry with sunny intervals but there are a lot of Ac cas clouds.

We had scattered lively storms here in the late afternoon. It turned much cooler and fresher by the evening after a very humid day of 30 C.

The Met Office must have read or heard my grumbles and decided to give me a thunder warning beginning from 3pm today till a minute before midnight.

That’s all very well but this is what they actually say:

“Many areas missing the worst but thunderstorms this afternoon and evening likely leading to some disruption in places.”

I think they should rewrite it to this which is more accurate I think: Not everyone will agree of course.

“Many areas missing the best but thunderstorms this afternoon and evening likely leading to some useful rainfall in places.”

A crazy storm over the North Wales coastline, moving into the Irish Sea. If it lasts until it goes dark, I'll hopefully be able to see some of the distant lightning from here.

Looking like shower/t-storm risk along the south of Dorset/Hampshire is rapidly disintegrating.

Not even bothered if it rains or not just hoping for an increase in airflow over the area to help shift the indoor heat.

Some lightning to my south west from those cells that have fired up over Cheshire. They might just graze here.
