A dull and dreary start to today after the clearance of some overnight rain (you can tell with that, that it's a bank holiday weekend).

The wind is also coming in from off the North Sea making it feel rather chilly although it has died down quite a bit from last night when it had actually become quite windy for a while.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh.

Only just down into single figures last night, the min was 9.8c. The morning started sunny and felt humid for the morning run, but cloud spilled in and filled during the afternoon, no showers thus far. Due to the cloud, the max of 18.3c was at 12:20.

There hasn't been any more rain here since this morning, but today was officially the first completely sunless day of this spring at Edinburgh Gogarbank as just for a change, the Sun actually refused to shine here today all day.

There is still a very long way to go as regards to this month but despite the summer solstice still being between one to two months away as I write, May is actually our sunniest month of the year on average according to the 1991-2020 averages. In spite of that though, this month is already shaping up to be nowhere near as sunny here as the last two months and as I have just mentioned above, we have already had that completely sunless day even though we're only three days into this month which is something which we didn't have at all in either March or April.

In addition to that, today also brought a return to single figures maximums as today's maximum temperature reached 9.60°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and just 9.37°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Currently around 8°C here in Edinburgh.

May the 4th be with you!!

Yes, today is Star Wars day (I know that our great friend and that very good YouTuber, Gavin Partridge is a very avid Star Wars fan) as well as being the May Day public holiday.

There was a little bit of overnight rain here but that has now gone and although there is still some cloud around, today has started off with some decent sunny spells at times.

In addition to that, today is also a bit warmer than yesterday and the temperature here in Edinburgh is already at around 10°C after an overnight minimum of 7.21°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 7.57°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Pretty much as per cultman1's Fulham update, cloudy and cool most of the day. During the few bright spells it was ok, the one sunny spell around 3pm took the temp up to 18.2c. Already down to 13.4c at 5:30, haven't worn a long-sleeve top for a while till now.

Turned out nice again! John will no doubt comment on another sunny Edinburgh day, not bad at all for a Bank Holiday and 15 C was much better than yesterday's single figures!

Yesterday was our sunniest day of this month so far with a total of 8.8 hours of sunshine at Edinburgh Gogarbank but even that still falls well short of what we were getting in April due to there being a bit more cloud around in the earlier part of yesterday and given that we are now into what is actually our sunniest month of the year on average according to the 1991-2020 averages, that is something which needs to be taken into consideration when this entire spring is assessed overall.

In addition to that, this morning has started off on a mainly cloudy note with one a few bright or sunny intervals at times although given how this spring has gone so far, I wouldn't put it past today to end up being sunnier over time just like yesterday, and for the same thing to happen regarding this month as a whole as well.

Furthermore, there was even a very light shower of rain a short while ago which made everything a little bit damp.

Last night was slightly cooler than the previous night with  overnight minimum of 6.44°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and 7.19°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

currently ranging between around 9°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank and around 11°C at the botanic gardens in Edinburgh.

Since the temperature reached 11 C earlier this morning in good sunny spells, it fell to 10 C at 12:30 and 8.5 C at 1330!

It's currently 7.6 C at Swanston, south of me.

Low cloud has covered the sky coming in on a fresh NE. Coat and gloves will be the required attire for when I head out shortly 🥶
