Conclusion
April 2026 started off on a very interesting note with an official white Easter here which came on the back of Storm Dave.
Overall, the overnight minimum temperatures were slightly below average but the number of air frosts was also below average and the daytime maximum temperatures were above average. Balancing all of that out, April 2026 was a warmer than average month overall.
In terms of rainfall, the number of official rain days was slightly above average in April but those all occurred in the first half of the month. There has been no recorded rainfall here since 20 April 2026 and as a result, April 2026 ended up drier than average overall.
April 2026 was also another exceptionally sunny month and for the second month in a row, the sunshine totals for April 2026 beat the total for the same month last year by some considerable amount even though the total for that same month last year was also very impressive. Spring 2025 was our sunniest spring on record and yet, it is now looking as though with just this month to go, this spring is likely to beat than hands down.
