I think it's time for a thread to keep an eye on hot temperatures for this year. I expect it'll be busier than the snow threads were during winter!

To open things, we have a few warm or hot days to come. This has been well-signalled by the models for a while now, and this morning's Met Office text forecast for the SE is quite remarkable.

EDIT: I'll use the subheading to keep a tally of the warmest day so far as the spring and summer progresses, as well as adding newly-set date records below.

7th Apr: 24.8, Mona

8th Apr: 26.6, Kew

Wednesday:

Another fine and dry day, with only limited amounts of high cloud. With lighter winds and widely sunny skies, it will be feeling warmer than on Tuesday for most. Maximum temperature 26 °C.

26C would effortlessly break the date record for Wednesday, which is 24.4C.

TORRO has a list of date records here:

UKV manages a 25C in London but other models less optimistic e.g. Arpege 22C. Worth watching, all the same.

20C here today makes it the second warmest day this year. Looking like another two more days of +20C to come before dropping off.

We may well see one go today and tomorrow as well.

An extraordinary bit of warmth for early April.

An unofficial site at Ham, near Kew, reporting 29.9C on the Met Office network. Several 28s to be seen in SW London

Worth keeping an eye on Heathrow and Kew as local approved recorders.

Actually not quite as warm as yesterday here, with a high of 19.1°C, compared to yesterday's 20.4°C.

Obviously it is in no way a "heat wave" or anything else particularly notable around here, but either way, it has still been a very pleasant and welcome spell of April warmth.

Peaked at 23.2 C in the shade at 2.55 pm here at Folkestone harbour, according to my Davis Vantage station. Quite remarkable given my coastal location with a cold channel nearby.

Currently 16.4 C at 6.45 pm with the setting sun beaming straight into my famed west-facing hobby room.

Home location: Folkestone Harbour.

Remarkable day was at the beach in Frinton N Essex.  My kids were swimming in the sea. Not bad for early April.

What a start! I’m fully aware there is no correlation, but a huge part of me hopes this is the precursor to a spring and summer of extreme heat and humidity

Been in the Canary Islands since Monday and would have loved to have seen 26c. Been 17-20c variable cloud and a nagging northerly wind all week. Upper air temps around -4c anomaly unfortunately.
