Happy Easter to everyone here on TWO.

I can also report that we have also technically speaking, just had an official white Easter here in Hawick.

After a very windy night, today started off fairly bright with a few showers already around and as another shower came along just as I got up, it started off just as rain before turning to sleet and wet snow with some quite big flakes, which have been enough to give us our official white Easter even though nothing has actually settled here.

We can never even buy a white Christmas these days and yet here we are with a white Easter. You really couldn’t make that up!!

So much then, for British “Summer” Time!!

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

But I note that the date of Easter this year was mid-range, rather than early into March.

FWIW, since retiring to Chichester and therefore living in the south, I have taken the opportunity to take photographs of lying snow whenever this has occurred. Several of these instances will have been snow on the Downs (say 200m asl rather than in Chichester 10m asl) e.g  Jan this year. Dates photographed:

Early -Nov 2021, 2024 and lasting into Dec 2009, 2010; Dec 2005, 2017, 2022 [total 7]

Mid - Jan 2007, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2019, 2026; Feb 2012, 2018, 2019, 2023 [total 10]

Late - Mar 2005, 2009, 2013, 2018 (twice); Apr 2008 [total 6]

Beautiful unbroken sunshine and only well scattered "jellyfish" high cloud, but no real warmth in the air just yet at 11.9 C & high 60% H in light SE breeze. I just tried to sit outside at my famed west-facing front garden but I felt quite cold, hopefully I'll have better luck tomorrow.

A decent day to end the Easter weekend. A cold start this morning at 2.1°C, but it's been pleasantly sunny for most of the day. Currently 13.8°C. Tomorrow and Wednesday look very nice.

The high today under sunny skies was 16.4, far higher than the 12C the MetO had for here, and it followed a chilly night with a low of 1.2. I was outside then and it did feel a bit nippy - no sign of any frost of any sort, though, not even on cars.

What a stunning day!!!!! Had a lovely wander around Portishead Marina, and sat out for some lunch. Caught the sun on my face and arms (or it may have been the blast from the nuclear strike on Iran)

The noticeable difference between today and yesterday was it felt warm out of the breeze, but today the breeze itself is warm and not chilly like it was yesterday.

I have just arrived home from Hawick and when I left there, it felt really hot with the unbroken sunshine (that makes it hard to believe that it was actually snowing there just a couple of days ago and this has made it feel as though we've gone straight from winter into summer in just a couple of days, missing out spring altogether) and so, I spent a bit of time sitting in my Mum's garden before setting off to come back home.

On my journey home, it still felt really warm as I changed buses at a location just to the south of the city centre here in Edinburgh but when I arrived back here in the NW of Edinburgh, I suddenly felt a much cooler breeze coming in from off the North Sea.

Today was the warmest day of this month so far in a month which is still running a bit colder than average overall, but today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was only 16.96°C which isn't even enough to give us our warmest day of the year so far and this means that our wait for our first 20+°C maximum of the year goes on, which I typically start to look for at around this time of the year.

In the end, a total of 9.4 hours of sunshine was recorded for today at Edinburgh Gogarbank but it clouded over a bit towards the end of the day which then scuppered our chances of today being at the very least, our sunniest day of this month so far. So far, this month has been nowhere near as sunny as last month, but this month's sunshine totals are currently running at roughly where they should be at this stage of the month.

Meanwhile, the temperature here in Edinburgh is currently around 12°C.
