Can I just say I haven't recorded double digits at all this month and I think my highest reading is something like 8.6C

That's a little unusual. Means we really haven't seen any 'mild' weather at all this month.

Would suggest, accounting for the cold start that the average day this month has been slightly above the long term average but well below any 'mild' threshold. Most January's these days seem to have a weak short cold spell (or two) and long strong mild spells for the rest. This month has been characterised by a complete lack of any mild spells at all.

EDIT: then again, looking at my temp record almost all daytime maxes have been below average but nightime minima have been generally above average with very low diurnal ranges. So maybe more to do with that.

I believe this makes Windy Willow and Wallaw winners for the first month of the new year both with estimates of 4.3C according to the table on page 1 so well done to those 2 !
