Just under 3°C at 16.00 hrs when I locked the church. A dull, grey, somewhat-misty day, with a variable light wind that barely stirred the flags on the village green. A disappointing sunset - no bright rays through the west windows of the church.  Tomorrow is expected to be wet with maybe 1cm or rain.

I can confirm that Storm Chandry has now arrived here in Edinburgh as light rain has now started along with a stiff easterly wind.

Last night's minimum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 3.4°C without even as much as a ground frost and so, our frost free horror show goes on for yet another day.

Currently around 4°C here in Edinburgh and not even the least bit cold.😡

7C light drizzly rain after heavy rain overnight (several major roads closed or at least obstructed by flooding) EDIT 0845 - now raining heavily again

Some very mild air not far away around the Channel Islands (12C); most of western Europe not that cold (close to freezing); for anything really cold (-12C), there's nothing nearer than Norway

Started raining about 8am - rattling on the windows. Moderately heavy but with quite a wind behind it. Variable S-SE judging by local flags. Still like that at 8.35am.

This is day 8 of hideous gloom

The weather here this morning can be summed up in one word: "foul". But surprisingly, we still seem to need the rain. There's a small spring not far from where I live that normally starts running at some point during the autumn before drying up again during the spring, but this winter it hasn't started yet, even though the surface soil is by now thoroughly sodden.

Moderate persistent rain has given me 22 mm so far today. The 6.4 C felt bleak in brisk SE breeze when I popped out to get papers just now.

Highest wind gusts at Edinburgh Gogarbank, are now up to around 45mph from the ESE.

In addition to that, a total of 10.8 mm of rain has now been recorded from this particular event at Edinburgh Gogarbank and it's still raining here even as I write. 9.6 mm of that has fallen since the start of the current official observation day at 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) this morning and so, that already makes today our wettest day of this year so far.

To sum everything up, today has been a complete write-off of a day here with the the temperature also still stuck at around 4°C here in Edinburgh.

Very windy again this morning with more large branches torn down. Heavy showers and longer spells of rain with hail.. just had a loud rumble of thunder. Temperature currently 6.8c. Lots of flooded lanes.

The rain has now finally cleared away from here after total of 12.8 mm of rain (11.6 mm of that falling since 9am GMT (09:00 UTC) this morning) had been recorded from this particular event at Edinburgh Gogarbank which makes today our wettest day of this year so far.

However, it's still overcast and windy and although an official Met Office yellow warning for ice is due to come into effect at midnight, the temperatures are still refusing to drop, and have actually gone up a bit over the last hour or so.

The official maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank according to the 21z raw BUFR/SYNOP data is confirmed as 4.4°C but that is clearly not going to end up being the actual maximum temperature as the temperature since then, has actually risen above that to around 5°C here in Edinburgh.

Despite the ice warning, there is not a single location here in Scotland according to weatherobs.com where the temperature has dropped even close to freezing, let alone below freezing.

Here in Edinburgh, the temperature went up even further during the night to around 6°C and has never really dropped below that since then which means that our frost free horror show goes on for yet another day.

The wind has died down but although I was at least hoping for a much brighter start to today later on (which is what the forecasts have been suggesting), it continues to remain overcast and there has even been the odd further shower around during the night.

In my books, that has to go down as a massive fail by the Met Office and a complete waste of a yellow ice warning.😕
