9.2C, moist with light SSE wind off Channel. Radar suggests dry for a bit? Forecast via BBC mentions showers pushing up from the south later.

A windy gloomy day with rain, a drier slot has moved in now with the stiff wind now from the east. The temperature has dropped from 6.3 C at lunchtime to 4 C now. Feels very cold in the wind

The overnight rain seems to have cleared. 7.2C.

Mr brother is in the middle of the Atlantic on the way to the land of rum and Rihanna. He reports it's rough with F 6 to 7 NE Trade winds. It will be another week before landfall. He's about 150 miles to the south of these people and overtaking them.

A succession of power cuts this afternoon. I'm going to shut up the office. Not even that windy.

Has been moderate to heavy, rain/sleet constantly here for 48 hours. Lots of flooding.

The temperature has hovered between 2.5c to 3.5c during that time.

Heavy snow 200 feet above our elevation, the advantage of that being precipitation is locked up as lying snow and so not running off the mountains, contributing to the flooding.

Day 5 of cold gloom, a cutting east wind and light rain, the temperature has been between 4 and 6 C. Looks like a good few days of this to come 🌧🌧🌧 Edinburgh weather at it's worst, but still quite a few tourists out and about in the Grassmarket last night!

Today is clearly yet another example of that as our permacast hell and frost-free horror show goes on and even when the rain is just light, that doesn't make it any less unpleasant for being out and about in.

On the face of it, it's not actually all that cold for this time of the year in terms of the actual temperatures, but that wind is making it feel a lot colder than it actually is.

As for the tourist, you will no doubt remember the old days when Edinburgh was busy only during the festival but nowadays' it's busy here all year round with all of the tourists around. I would imagine that tomorrow might be even busier still with that big football match taking place at Tynecastle but I fully envy any football fans who choose to travel to matches in those conditions.

Currently around 6°C here in Edinburgh and not even the least bit cold for this time of the year.🥵

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Since today is turning out a lot sunnier than I thought with a peak of 9.1 C and there is a drying breeze, I decided to give my beloved lawn the first mow of 2026. Even worked up a sweat.
