Now, this winter has just gone completely down the toilet pan once again as our first double figures temperature of the year has just been recorded at Edinburgh Gogarbank, and it just had to happen at night as well which is just like the thing.😡

It's still windy as well, though not quite as windy as earlier on with some light rain continuing to fall at times.

Currently around 10°C here in Edinburgh

The north of Edinburgh, usually always missing out on snow events which occur not just within the rest of Scotland or the UK, but also within the rest of Edinburgh.

Well what a difference a couple of days makes!

Sunday was rainy with temperatures slowly rising to ~3C in late afternoon. Temperatures continued to rise to ~7C overnight into Monday, meaning that our foot of snowcover from the weekend had all disappeared entirely on Monday morning!

Temperatures took a big dip again overnight into Tuesday; 1C at 7:30 am this morning and at present the temperature is 2.7C. This morning's heavy rain has now given way to clear skies.

Dull and damp with low cloud/hill mist. Only 3.2 mm so far today here at Folkestone but feels like 30 mm might as well have fallen as everything are just so damp and moist at 9 C and 98% H in light wind. Even my beard is starting to have moss on it.

(Almost) clear blue skies with temp around 7c, which is pretty much average. Walking back from work there and though the ground is soaked, you could see spots drying out where the sun is shining on. In fact, I could feel the heat of the sun a little. I wouldn't call it spring-like by any stretch, but it sort of gives that little hint that spring is nigh.

11.2C and at last rain we just can't miss. Coming from SW in a streamer from the Atlantic and along the Channel with a fairly short land crossing to the S.E. Not like the westerly or NW fronts that fizzle out before they arrive.  11mm so far and looks like a lot more on Thursday making up for the year's deficit. Hopefully March to May won't be as dry last year and gardening and allotment will be simplified.

That's interesting, as in Galway the sun is basically the same height as it is here at the winter solstice (15.5 vs 15.2 degrees, it'll be 17.4 degrees high here today) - and there's not much heat to be had from it then, just the merest bit of apricity. It's mid-Feb here when it really starts to make itself felt (26 degrees high), and it's the point where snow hanging around for long becomes much, much rarer. 

It's unremarkable here - virtually calm, just the odd puff of wind from the west, 3.1, dew 2.5. Yesterday's high was a mild 10.8, and *that* certainly is spring-like - it's what I'd expect in mid-March.

Yes unexpectedly cold - only the other day I wrote that no subzero temps were expected in the next 10 days, which they weren't at the time but the forecast for last night progressively got colder and in the end we hit -3 to -4 locally. With all the rain yesterday it is extremely icy on the roads and footpaths. My morning run was a bit sketchy in places!

Dull grey morning here bit damp although it should be raining hard according to the Met Office radar but it's not it's dry, the worst weather possible.

The combination of extensive roadworks and heavy overnight rain have left Lincolnshire side-roads in a mess as huge HGVs and farm equipment drive onto soft verges to pass each other. The Lincolnshire expression is "Up to yer guts in squad"! More heavy rain this evening will make matters worse.

So far the forecast heavy rain hasn't materialised here. The radar looks quite impressive but the reality is just moderate drizzly stuff.
