We had another 5 inches of fresh snow today between 11 and 6 pm. Been dry since with temperature holding between -2.1C and -1.6C.

I'm nervously looking at the radar to see if we get any more snow overnight. Hoping to dig my car out in the morning and get out of the street to drive down to Edinburgh for the Hibs game. Any more snow overnight and I think I'm goosed.

On a more serious note though, I have looked at the latest radar map which is showing that just about all of the precipitation to the north of the Central Belt is still falling as snow, but I hope that you will still be able to get the car out for that journey anyway..

Sheet ice here after last night's rain at 0 C. Treacherous out there. Still 0 C. My car is encased in ice!

Still a bit of frozen snow left

9am, Bright and clear with very light snowfall in progress. Grass and pavements with a light cover, say 1-2mm, crunchy just now, so passable.

11.15hrs - Sunny now and a thaw in progress.

Fair with sunny spells and partial cloud, still chilly at 4 C but felt the aprcity of the low noon sun when getting the papers.

A vast improvement, yesterday was horrid with sea surge overnight and then 36 mm of rain (which turned sleety for half an hour) during the day. Lucky my house sits on a mound on an incline 100 metres away from the sea so flooding isn't an issue but it was a bleak day in every sense of the word, now officially bored of this Autumn.

Here in Edinburgh, I can still see some snow on the Pentland Hills to my south and it has now clouded over a bit after some earlier sunshine but the temperature is now up to around 5°C so it's not even all that cold here anymore.😡

Some very cold air being dragged in from the Denmark direction this afternoon. Max to day was just 2.9C and has steadily fallen during the afternoon to be 1.5C at dusk. In fact it has been one of the coldest days of the whole spell, just when it's too late.

Today's maximum temperature at Edinburgh Gogarbank was 4.9°C which means that today actually came very close to being our warmest day of this year so far just to show how cold this month has been so far.

However, it has now clouded over and the temperatures are already refusing to drop, currently remaining stuck at around 4°C here in Edinburgh. This means that despite what the official forecasts are saying and with those sorts of temperatures, we can clearly already forget about seeing any snow in the early hours of tomorrow morning ahead of the forecast milder weather.

Winter is over!!😡

England is mostly below freezing, Scotland is well above! Yet the snow warnings are mostly up here??? It's going to be a big fail like yesterday evening! It's 4 C and the precipitation is nearly here 🤔

Quite a bit colder than expected today. Currently -3.6 at Farnborough. I did my first parkrun this morning and it was certainly “parky”!

This time tomorrow it will be double figures.

The last frost for what could be quite a long time! -2.9 (dew -3.7), partly cloudy, clear. Yesterday's high was 3.3 - tomorrow should be 8 or more degrees higher!

A complete forecasting fail once more. They are becoming more common! 4 C when I went to bed last night and still 4 C when I woke up. We have lashing rain here in the 'Yellow snow & ice warning area'

Further north in the 'Amber snow warning area' it's +2 C 🤔

I'm glad to see the back of the frustrating cold spell that promised so much and delivered so little to the Central Belt

I've been down our lane to open up the Church and also to put on the Methodists' boiler for their service today - making myself useful. 9am. It seemed mighty cold with a bit of a wind too. It has the look of snow, but no sign of that yet. The road and pavement were a bit icy. A delivery person had dumped a parcel at the door of the boiler room. That's up a blind alley that goes nowhere.  I shall drop it off to the owner later - I wonder how long it had been there. Weeks perhaps? 🙄

7.7C with a fresh southerly wind. Cloudy. It's noticeable how the evenings are lighter than before Christmas. I could still see some brightness to the west yesterday at 5.45pm.  Still gloomy to wake up to.

A dull, dark and gloomy start to today with light to moderate rain.

However, today is also already our warmest day of this year so far (it is also forecast to get even warmer than that) with the temperature currently at around 6°C here in Edinburgh. That has also given us our first temperature of the year, of 5°C or above.

We have warning for snow but the wind has been gusting over 60mph even a few minutes ago it has been hellish at times this morning with dry blowing snow turning slowly to sleet.

A complete write-off of a day here in Edinburgh as it has been raining for most of the day. We are now entering into a gap in that wet weather but the wind has picked up quite a lot in the last few hours with gusts up to around 43 mph from the south at Edinburgh Gogarbank.

However, the temperature here in Edinburgh is now up to 9°C which isn't even the least bit cold any more.😡

Can hear that obligatory dirty in-your-face southerly wind whistling over the roof of my house, but thankfully not amounting to much rain-wise at 1.2 mm so far today. Making the current 6.4 C feel cold than it needs to be, just as well I'm all warm and cosy indoors with heating on.
