Wet snow stopped here in Okehampton - we had 10 minutes of huge wet flakes falling horizontally in wind at 0.7c and then temperature rose back up to 1.4c and now it is 2.0c and sleety rain. Fun to watch. Uppers have risen to -2.7c compared to weekend uppers of -9.5c and the dustings of snow we had were fine fluffy and powdery compared to this slushy mess! and it is getting milder a as I type now 2.2c and sleety rain but odd flake in heavier burst but more rain and sleet in the mix than snow now!! Been interesting though, shame there wasn't more snow though!

To my surprise, I have just woke up to discover that it's now currently snowing here in NW Edinburgh with that snow even starting to give a slight covering here.

I'm sure that Jerry will at least be pleased about that where he is.

Currently sleeting even here at my southernmost coastal location as Kent is now in colder north west wind as Goretti pull away onto the Low Countries. Current temp at 1.8 C & 98% H.

A bit of sleet here too, but it's turning back to rain as the temperature rises (it was maybe 5% snow, 95% rain at 2.2, dew 1.5, but maybe 2% snow, 98% rain now - at 2.4, 1.7).

Was a good event last night just very lucky to get home at 7.15pm after my work end at 7pm, was started to snow heavy, heard about many cars stranded after that and poor staff at my work place who due to finish work 10pm or start work 10pm have problems to go home or attend.  It was blizzards conditions over night deposited 10cm of snow, now 8cm and sun trying to come out, will go out to enjoy the snow before the sun melt some of it.  if there any snow left on my lawn i would able to record low temps tonight.  Just been lucky in thsi area avoided the mild sector which reached as far as Coventry before moving away.  Snow ended in the early hours and thankfully no rain at all to wash away according to some posters complaning about the rain washing away their snow cover.

In addition to that, the temperature has also risen to above freezing (currently +0.4°C at Edinburgh Gogarbank) with a slight thaw now taking place.

You really couldn't make that up!!😡

At 150m - 200m (Blackford & Braid Hill) it's powdery snow and all frozen, only a couple of cm's but looks good with the temperature late morning still only 0 C

Looking up to the Pentlands they have gone much whiter and it will be well below freezing at 500m

Got to say the IMBY forecast from xcweather (GFS) was spot on - proper snow 8/9/10am and then stopping - while the metoffice had me for sleet all day which hasn't happened

I suspect the N-S band down the middle of central and southern Scotland has been giving snow all day. We are 0C here and waiting for the precipitation coming in from the east.....snow? 🤔

As you have said though (albeit in a different way), this is clearly due to a temperature inversion with some warmer air aloft.

So most of the Central Belt including Scotland's 2 major cities, miss out on the snow but have widespread light rain tonight at 0 C to -1 C......bizzare!
